"I welcome their hatred." -Franklin Delano Roosevelt
FDR said that about the wealthy and powerful corporatists.

The Obama administration appears to welcome the hatred of "professional leftists".

I leave you to draw your own conclusions.

1. What I just posted an hour or so ago...
Edited on Thu Aug-12-10 07:54 AM by ProfessionalLeftist
"I assert that instead of this administration so vehemently eliciting and welcoming the anger of the "Professional Left" - perhaps they should instead welcome and furthermore elicit the anger of the GOP (ie: the Professional Right) instead, and do what they were elected to do by most voters of this country (ie: not just the "Professional Left")

Pissing off even a small part (allegedly) of their base is unwise at best, and could be disasterous at worst."

http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.php?az=show_mesg&forum=389&topic_id=8931719&mesg_id=8931742

And FDR's quote was just what I was thinking of when I wrote it. My conclusion is that the Obama admin is sadly protecting the interests of powerful corporatists at the expense of the "Professional Leftists" - and just about everyone else too. Now, I supported this man, I made phone calls and did door-to-door canvassing. Had stickers and magnets on my car and signs in my yard. Had I known what would result from my work is this about-face from what is the very basic tenets of the Democratic Party, including FDR's legacy, I'd not have done so much work on his behalf. I'd have just voted for him due to the fact there was no other alternative (McSame wasn't an alternative).

Yea so excuse me Gibbers, if I'm suffering a bit of whiplash here... (and when you're done, kiss my left buttcheek, dude. Hmph.)

4. Yes. "Welcome to DU"...*punch!*
Edited on Thu Aug-12-10 08:46 AM by ProfessionalLeftist
Wow. Thanks dude. Excuse me while I go wipe the damn blood from my nose and check to see if it's broken or not. What a welcome!

By 'unpleasant truth' you must be referring to the unpleasant truth that the Democratic Party is so splintered and disorganized, so badly managed and bad at politics and policy and at getting anything done that accomplishes anything for working people and Main Street as opposed to Wall Street - that it eats and sucker-punches its own. Like you just did to me in a very interesting and fine example of Gibb's own attitude.

Instead of welcoming both the "liberal fringe" and more moderate members of its party (or at the very least not dissing them at every turn with every derogatory name in the bood), the Democrats embrace corporatists and GOP policies and protect those, while bashing part of its own party. It could and should take some lessons from the Republicans and stop doing that - and instead punch the corporatists and the Republicans and Wall Street in the nose rather than it's own party members and supporters.

If there's an unpleasant truth, it's that Democrats (or at least this administration, and Gibbers is just the mouthpiece) have not yet learnt that lesson - or should I say RE-learnt it since it seems to be lost from FDR days. So there you go. Stick that 'unpleasant truth' in ya pipe and smoke it!

:hi:

2. K&R. So true...they WHINE about it, but they really welcome the opportunity to shake the left
off their shoe like something nasty they didn't realize got attached to it out in the street, lest Wall Street be offended.

It fits well with the "the left will be assimilated or they will be destroyed" mission your boy seems to be on.

I fear you greatly because I know resistance is futile! All will be borg! all parties will be right!
