Some relevant quotes for the anti-Muslim crowd
"Religious freedom is a cornerstone of our Republic, a core principle of our Constitution, and a fundamental human right." ~ G.W. Bush

"Our Founding Fathers recognized that religious freedom is a right we must protect with great vigilance. We must continue our efforts to uphold justice and tolerance and to oppose prejudice; and we must be resolved to countering any means that infringe on religious freedom." ~ G.W. Bush

"Because the Framers placed the guarantee of religious freedom before other cherished rights, religious liberty in America is often called the first freedom." ~ G.W. Bush

Even this dumbass gets it. Why can't you?

4. "These people"?
I get it. Only those who favor building a shrine to the Muslim faith on the site of a massacre in the name of the Muslim faith are right. Everyone else is wrong and evil.

Every religion on this earth has a nasty, bloody history. Every one. In a hundred years it won't matter, today it does. Pretending it doesn't is pretending that wounds don't leave scars.

BTW, would you mind if the mosque was on the exact site of the twin towers? Instead of in the debris field? You do know what the debris consisted of, don't you? You know what (and who) was in that dust we were breathing?

See, yr still trying to hold all Muslims responsible for the actions of a few. It's a cultural centre, not a 'shrine' and you've been told many times it's not on the site, so why keep on repeating stuff you know isn't true?

I'm sure I'm not the only DUer who's noticed that Islam and Muslims are the only ones you go on and on about. See, I'm an atheist, and I agree that every religion has a bloody history, but anyone who takes that and builds it up into opposing the construction of a cultural centre because they're holding all Muslims responsible for what happened on 9/11 is indulging in intolerance similar to that of Sarah Palin and other RWers...

btw, for anyone not familiar with yr 'contributions' to this topic, here's a link to a post that really makes it clear where you stand:

once infected with a warped sense of self-righteous superiority...

8. Our Rights aren't enshrined for popular causes.
There is a room, in a community center, two blocks away from ground zero that will be used for prayer. The local community board has no problem with this. There have been mosques in that neighborhood for decades. The fearmongers should butt out.

12. Dress up your hateful ignorance however you like, it's still hateful ignorance.
You sound like one of those crazed neocons going on about a 'clash of civilisations'.

Islam is not the enemy (and Muslims died in the World Trade Centre as well as Christians and Jews and atheists). Virulent opposition to Islam only serves to radicalise moderate Muslims by denying them the opportunity to integrate into American society. Would you be as opposed to building a Catholic church a block away from an abortion clinic that was bombed by a Catholic zealot? Or for that matter to building a synagogue in East Jerusalem in a Palestinian neighbourhood?

2. Is the anti-Muslim crowd trying to legally block the mosque,
or is the anti-Muslim crowd claiming the mosque would be in poor taste, or are they making threats, or what?

5. The anti-Mosque at Ground Zero crowd, you mean?
Because you are buying into a premise that has no foundation.
