Jason Allen won't seek recount in GOP race for Congress

LANSING — Michigan state Sen. Jason Allen has decided not to challenge fellow Republican Dan Benishek's slim win in their race for Congress.

Allen threw his support behind the Crystal Lake surgeon in a statement late Saturday that announced he wouldn't seek a re-count of the official election results from the Aug. 3 Republican primary. The Board of State Canvassers certified the results Friday, finding that Benishek beat Allen by just 15 votes for the GOP nod in the sprawling 1st Congressional District.

Allen said he's been humbled by the support he received over the last few months and decided against a re-count after talking with Republican leaders, supporters and his family. He said the 1st District, which includes all of Michigan's Upper Peninsula and part of the state's northern Lower Peninsula, is long overdue for GOP representation and urged Republicans to now focus on beating the Democratic nominee, state Rep. Gary McDowell of Rudyard.

"It is time to put the primary behind us and move to the general election. It is time for all conservatives to band together to defeat Gary McDowell," Allen said.

2. I doubt brain surgeon or Wiki would have stipulated that. He's
probably just a knife wielding teabagge...only licensed to do so

4. The Republicans are all down with their agenda
It is the result that the pukes are after, not how they get there.

5. No new taxes, more tax cuts, no new mosques, no abortions, no gay stuff, and no immigrants.
It's been the same for years now. The only "new" platform plank is the one about mosques.

Yup, the GOPers have the solutions for all that ails America.
