MJ the best place to see the verbal bs the right will put out for the day. The old soft shoe begins. According to Joe, it was "peaceful" and "positive." The optic are being made to convert the Teabaggers from angry, screaming lynch mobs into smiling happy patriotic people. In that view, the Rs can now formally reclaim them and publicly embrace them. The only squeamishness appears to be with the religious overtones, especially Beck's Mormon affilation. Shiny happy people holding hands. No nasty signs. No ugly insults.

Now, folks, what are you going to do with Teabaggers in this iteration. The Klan goes underground again.

2. Yes, I caught that. Peace, love, a kinder, gentler blah blah. And
schmo keeps repeating the number 500,000 for amount of people. I guess he didn't see the cbs poll=around 87,000 attendees.

11. You're forgetting the 3 million "African Americans" who attended ...
the funny thing was, when they were shown on TV, they must have been related, because it looked like they were going back to the same few there ...

18. judging by a couple RW blogs I've glanced at, there were easily 1 billion people in attendance
not to mention Jesus Himself and a number of angels.

It was, after all, "the largest attended private event in Washington DC history" or some such thing.

There's no arguing with these people. Mostly because I have no clear idea of what they're about, aside from that they are "against Big Government" and want to "restore dignity and honor" and that they "don't like black people". OK, I'm just inferring that last one. But my point is, there is no arguing these people away from their opinions. Fine. There were millions and millions of people at Beck's rally, surpassing the attendance of every previous march, rally, or other event. Whatever you say, geniuses.

4. You Can't Hide A Leopards Spots...
I was having fun reading how pissed off the Freepers and wingnuts were about the rally. They wanted red meat...they wanted Bachmann up there screaming that President Obama is a socialist A-rab...they wanted to demonize the "professional left" as evil monsters ready to force your daughters to have abortions from gay couples and to grab the torches and pitchforks. Instead they got a "promisekeeper" rally...loaded with all sorts of religious symbolism and tons of dogwhistles that sounded mundane but those who are attuned heard the message loud and clear.

What was amusing was to see the fundies start to question Dreck and his "mormon motives"...which led to a "discussion" of whose god was bigger and better...and it surely wasn't the one that wears the magic underware or believes in "popery". This may be a harbinger of things to come...especially if Mittens comes out as the frontrunner in the 2012 GOOP nomination.

The great unhinged don't want kumbaya...they want blood...

5. This is about what the R Party wants...they want a
Norman Rockwell picture to put on campaigns, even the 2012 one. Palin campaign posters.

10. Ain't Gonna Fly...
This reminded me of one of their conventions...the reverse oreo kind...all the white people surrounding the blacks on the stage. It didn't fool that many and let the corporate media spin it as they want, blacks and now hispanics in this country know the GOOP is their enenmy. Without reaching out to those groups the GOOP will never be able to win a national election again.

Let them try to paper over their hate...they can't do it. Just wait, some asshat will spew some racist or other inflamatory rhetoric and the kumbaya moment will be all forgotten. The GOOP is in no mood to make nice, they want power and don't care how deceptive they have to be to grab it. That said, they still can't hide the hate/fear platform that is all they have left and even then it doesn't paper over many divisions within their corrupt and crumbling party that may not hurt them in November but spells for major problems (and entertainment for us) leading up to 2012...

12. We need to keep their hate speech and actions to the fore
so that it doesn't get papered over by the Rs and a corrupt media trying to create a "narrative." Person to person, one by one, the way we did it in the election runup.

8. The Teabaggers were catching a lot of flak because of
their racist signs. So they put out the word to drop the signs to give them a softer image, it's all show business. They dug up the RR play book.

17. Personally, I'm relieved
that Beck and Palin are ratcheting down the hate a notch. When their followers get whipped into a frenzy, someone gets hurt or worse. It wouldn't be good for their image, going into an election; for one of the extremists to murder somebody. That is why we have right-wing sweetness and light at the moment.
