Coulter on Falwell--this is one for the ages a *MUST READ*
Edited on Thu May-17-07 08:23 AM by underpants
Ann is much of a writer to start with but she directly counterdicts herself and then RE-counterdicts herself immediately there after and over all she paints herself into the same general "a$$hole" corner that Jerry did.

If you were worried that the great and godly Ann hadn't mentioned "fisting" in a while-your wait is over.

Read and "enjoy". When I saw the title I was expecting a scathing article --- turns out you can almost smell the gin coming off the original.

:wow:

JERRY FALWELL -- SAY HELLO TO RONALD REAGAN!
http://news.yahoo.com/s/ucac/20070516/cm_ucac/jerryfalwellsayhellotoronaldreagan

Falwell was a perfected Christian. He exuded Christian love for all men, hating sin while loving sinners. This is as opposed to liberals, who just love sinners. Like Christ ministering to prostitutes, Falwell regularly left the safe confines of his church to show up in such benighted venues as CNN.

Let me be the first to say: I ALWAYS agreed with the Rev. Falwell.

Actually, there was one small item I think Falwell got wrong regarding his statement after 9/11 that "the pagans, and the abortionists, and the feminists, and the gays and the lesbians -- who are actively trying to make that an alternative lifestyle -- the ACLU, People for the American Way, all of them who have tried to secularize America. I point the finger in their face and say, 'You helped this happen.'"

First of all, I disagreed with that statement because Falwell neglected to specifically include Teddy Kennedy and "the Reverend" Barry Lynn.

:rofl::wow::bounce::woohoo:

There have always been gay people -- even in the http://www.thefreedictionary.com/prelapsarian">prelapsarian '50s that Jerry Falwell and I would like to return to, when God protected America from everything but ourselves.

What Falwell was referring to are the gay activists -- the ones who spit the Eucharist on the floor at St. Patrick's Cathedral, blamed Reagan for AIDS, and keep trying to teach small schoolchildren about "fisting."

3. There are no words
Fortunately. Coulter's ranting has become so hate-filled and stupid that it can't be taken as anything but parody anymore. This is a person who defends Joe McCarthy, after all. I'm sure Hitler is likely rated pretty highly too. Sympathy for the Devil indeed.

62. I have a theory that some public figures
eventually become caricatures of themselves. Kinda like a personal "shark-jumping". They can't do anything but exaggerate their own outrageous qualities. Michael Jackson comes to mind. Anna Nicole Smith was another. Paris/Brittney/Lindsey is on that road as well. Annthrax has reached self-caricature.

5. So Ann Coulter believes God hates America.
She's saying that God withdrew his protection from America as punishment for being too secular.

If God made a decision to let those thousands of people to die on 9/11, as Ann Coulter writes, then he must hate America.

Yeah the good ole 50's when god protected the ku klux klan and was incubating the likes of limbaugh and bush and abramoff. What a great time indeed. Gosh, I wish I were gay so I could have felt falwell's love. It must have been awesome. falwell and reagan can now chat about the good ole days when ronnie was ordering the deaths of non whites down in Central America. I bet the ole gipper will tear up at the thought. Maybe they'll share of packet of ketchup.

If she thinks that time was so much better, then why doesn't she take her shoes off, wear a frock, get in the kitchen, start cooking dinner and shut the fuck up. She uses the opportunities that feminism affords her to bash feminism. What a dumbass.

17. No one but Ann is completely consumed by it
1. On Page 175, Coulter attacked "liberals" who would "foist" sex education topics such as "nal sex, oral sex, fisting, dental dams, 'birthing games'" on kindergarteners. Citing a November 8, 1987, New York Times article, Coulter wrote:

But in contrast to liberal preachiness about IQ, there would be no moralizing when it came to sex. Anal sex, oral sex, fisting, dental dams, "birthing games" -- all that would be foisted on unsuspecting children in order to protect kindergarteners from the scourge of AIDS. As one heroine of the sex education movement told an approving New York Times reporter, "My job is not to teach one right value system. Parents and churches teach moral values. My job is to say, 'These are the facts,' and to help the students, as adults, decide what is right for them."9

To those who find it odd that Coulter would support her claim about "fisting" being taught to kindergarteners by quoting "one heroine of the sex education movement" and referring to students as "adults," there is a very good reason for that. The woman Coulter quoted was Dr. Beverlie Conant Sloane, then-director of health education at Dartmouth College. The Times article cited by Coulter, titled "At Dartmouth, A Helping Candor," (subscription required) was about the sex education programs available to adult students at Dartmouth -- not children in kindergarten. Not only is the article about adult students, but it is from November 1987, close to 20 years old -- hardly what would be considered to be relevant information on current sex education policies.

COULTER: Absolutely. Absolutely. It's a great comparison. Because meanwhile, these health fanatics, when it comes to smoking, encourage every form of polymorphous perversity, which, by the way, does have public health consequences -- but no, no, no, no. That -- that -- you know, anal sex and fisting, that's part of our deepest privacy rights.

21. Seriously, I learnt about fisting in my school magazine
But the context isn't what you'd expect. This was the mid 80s, when AIDS was a new phenomenon; and one of the parents happened to be a doctor doing research into it. The school, in an admirable fit of liberality and concern for education, asked him to write an article about what was known about AIDS. And he told us that fisting was a very high risk activity (and had to basically describe it, since most of us had never heard of it). The school was for 13-18 year olds, and the magazine was expected to be read by parents as well.

No one blamed Reagan for AIDS, he was blamed for lack of action when AIDS came out then called it a gay disease hoping that it would be ignored, until it was found out that women could catch AIDS too and by then he had an epidemic on his hands. Again she lies about the 1950's, remember that was when god was used to protect america from those red commies? Also pregnant teens were hidden away until after they had their babies which were then taken away to be raised in government controlled institution's? Seems Ann the man is just a hypocrite that refuses to admit that the republican party has always been a party of control.

49. See post #17
I can't find it now but when her latest "book" came out someone actually read it and she mentioned "fisting" two or threes times in it. She also brought it up on a TV show completely out of the blue as if it is something normally mentioned in conversation.

I hate to say this but this really sounds like what the poker players call a "Tell" ifyouknowwhatImeanandIthinkyoudo ;-)

45. Religious Logic?
"Falwell later stressed that he blamed the terrorists most of all, but I think that clarification was unnecessary. The necessary clarification was to note that God was at least protecting America enough not to allow the terrorists to strike when a Democrat was in the White House."

Is she suggesting that God waited until we had some kind of "strong leader" (read: not a wimpy, liberal Democrat) in the White House to allow the terrorists to strike?

Seems to me her logic suggests that once Bush entered the White House, God pretty much gave up on us.

72. I think she's saying that she sincerely believes that God chose to let...
...the 9/11 attacks happen to punish us for being secular, and then she adds a joke that Democrats are so bad at national security that we must have had God's protection during Clinton to avoid a similar attack.

In other word, this sentence is an unfunny joke, "The necessary clarification was to note that God was at least protecting America enough not to allow the terrorists to strike when a Democrat was in the White House."

51. She sure does like talking about fisting, doesn't she?
I mean, didn't she also accuse San Franciscans of fisting in the streets? So you can see what's on her mind; maybe the reason she's so twisted and horrible is frustration at not getting what she really wants in this life. I'd call for some brave soul to help her out with this, only who'd want to put their hand in that?:scared:

56. I made myself read it
...although it took all I had to get past her opening paragraph that compared Falwell to Christ.

Only Ann could work in references to Clinton, Barry Lynn, the ACLU, fisting, and The Teletubbies in her so-called paean to Falwell.

Damn...just how DO people get these lucrative gigs? I wrote better columns for my high school newspaper.

...according to Ann Coulter, that liberals who hate Falwell must hate Jesus.

59. i love the fisting line
the prudes are great. Look, Ann, the only people who keep talking about fisting when children are around are your ilk. it's like when the whole Clinton/Monica mess was around, and conservatives kept saying "But Bill Clinton made up keep talking about blow jobs" Look, assholes. the only people who keep bringing up sex around children are you. you love to talk about how the evil liberals and (even worse) the evil liberal gays make you, just make you keep talking about dirty sex. Well let me tell you, I have never, in my life, heard a liberal, or even a homosexual, talk about fisting outside of an appropriate setting. the only people who talk about sex this much, this salaciously, are teenage boys and prudes. which are you?

84. I'll be honest here, I'm well on my way to being a geezer, and
thought I had heard it all, but I had never heard of "fisting" until Coulter brought it up about 6 months ago, and then I thought is was masturbation...

I finally got it when someone posted a link describing the process. I have no idea where she gets her jollies, but seems to me, the # of times she brings it up, she must really enjoy the situation...:D

63. Her schtick as "Defender of the Faith" is just as hollow as Falwell's.
But, like any other entertainer, she keeps trying to resurrect her glory days.

She's about as relevant or influential as Lawrence Welk.

about Christianity, if Jerry Falwell is an example of a "perfected Christian"! All real Christians should be outraged, as I'm sure they will be!

78. Funny-short- story about that
I posted a long story on this a year ago but here goes.

We HAD to take our baby to Easter service at the grandparents church-my first trip, other than the wedding, to a church in I don't know how many years.

This is in Roanoke so they know Falwell-some even went to high school with him (yes only that many layers of seperation between me and IT)so when this slick preacher lead into a Falwell story everyone stirred and wiggled and got comfy for a good Jerry story. They aren't exactly fans.

So the guest speaker is talking about standing in line to meet some author (whom I googled and found nothing on-probably some inner circle guy) and the line keeps ebbing and flowing. Falwell shows up, puts his arm around our guest speaker, and takes him to the front of the line.

Just like Jesus would put his arm around you and take you into the pearly gates.

-stone cold stunned silence in the church-
I tried not to make any sudden movements but as soon as we walked out of the church my wife and I almost exploded with "DID HE SAY WHAT I THINK HE SAID!?!?"

He compared Falwell to Christ. He hasn't been back since.

83. WTF...if "prelapsarian' means before the collapse of...
Adam and Eve, how can the 50's be involved in that kind of scenario?

And just for Ann's information...the 50's sucked too, PTSD aff from WWII and Korea affected many people, and there was some serious abuse problems. Inflkation was climing ever higher, the Korean war left a lot of people dead, and millions more disillusioned.

Come to think of it, the 50's had a few glowing moments, desegregation of public schools, the Interstate...OK.

I don't think Coulter is old enough to remeber the 50's. Her view of the 50's was molded on Leave it to Beaver and Andy Griffith reruns.

And if Falwell was the epitome of a Christian...she has some serious issues...:grr:

it's another example of what Jon Stewart said the other night, that the country the Publicans want to run is fictional.

87. A lot of our history is fictionalized...most people don't know that
the largest bill the Constitutional Congress had, was it's bill for alcohol, the amount consumed is staggering when you think about it. It was not as seen in the paintings of the era either, there was a lot of contention and fights, verbal and physical often broke out.

The US, in it's beginings was a place of unbridled brawling and some serious adventure...we still have a lot of that today...:D

Falwell the fister, I am sure also liked to recieve the same treatment in kind.... and honest Annie there knows how to massage a prostate with the best of 'em. I guess some assholes are just too big to squeeze the hand the feeds though... pitty really :)
