Murray up by 9 over Rossi in latest poll
Edited on Mon Sep-13-10 07:24 PM by Ramulux
Murray is up 50-41 according to a really respectable pollster from Washington.

http://www.swingstateproject.com/diary/7577/wasen-murray-leads-rossi-by-9

This is pretty damn good news. These Elway pollsters have one of the best track records in the entire country so its not like this is some kind of internal poll.

1. This is something of a relief. Rossi is a corrupt slimeball.
No way I want him to slither in, and the last couple of elections have been waaaaaay too close for comfort.

As lukewarm as I am toward Congressional Democrats in general for being mealy-mouthed appeasers, the mere thought of Rossi slithering into the Senate is DEFINITELY enough to motivate me to vote!

3. You know, for those of us who may not live where this race is,
it would be helpful if you'd tell us the state, the office, and which one is a Democrat. Seriously. We don't all follow every race in the country, and such information would be really, really helpful.

Either that, or post it in a state forum where the election is being held.

5. Washington state
Senate...Murray is the Dem. Patty Murray has been unequivocal in her support of veterans, rural health care, and a wide range of other issues here. I am a rare Dem in eastern Washington, and even over here, we hear support for her. Rossi has been running for every open office for years; he just seems like an opportunist. Great news!

Excuse us if Washington State just isn't local enough for you.

28. Good point
Although I know this one. Back when I lived in WA state, Patty Murray's staff helped me immensely when they helped my family get an exchange student visa for a young lady from Albania. She was such a delight to our family, I'm glad we had the chance to show her the real America, and Murray's staff made it all possible.

7. Rossi (R, Snake) and Murray (D, has made some regrettable
Edited on Mon Sep-13-10 07:47 PM by lifesbeautifulmagic
supreme court votes)

Rossi was pumped up by some big time restaurant businessmen in his initial run, with the promise that they would be rewarded by Rossi pushing through a law that would change the way food service workers were paid, the tips they collected would be counted towards the min hourly wage, with the end result being that the average wage of a waitress (for instance) would go down something like $10,000 a year.

Then, during his second run (iirc), he made into the governors office for a few days while there was a recount, and one of his first actions was to change the eligibility rules for health coverage FOR KIDS, again, with the result being that thousands, maybe even tens of thousands, were now not eligible for coverage. No health care for poor kids. fabulous.

So to recap, he campaigned with the promise to LOWER the wages of Americans, and governed by denying low income kids health care.

WHAT A GUY, what an Arse. Big fat so called christian Arse. And no yapping at me for that last statement, he wraps himself up in the bible.

edit -hit the post button too soon, did not proof, hopefully better now.

I don't know what planet you live on, but, in the reality-based one I inhabit, he never "made it into the governor's office for a few days." There was a major recount controversy in his first (not second, BTW -- that one he lost pretty handily) run for the governorship that had him first losing the election, then winning by a narrow margin in the first recount, then losing by an even narrower margin in the final recount (plus months of him appealing the latter), but the election was certified in his Democratic opponent's favor long before the term was to begin. By the time of the inauguration, Gregoire was officially recognized as the victor, and she took the oath of office. Rossi was never governor at any time, period.

17. first of all. I did state IIRC, secondly, Rossi was certified by
Secretary of State Sam Reed, and then all hell broke loose, and the outcome was favorable (imho). But, the main point I was trying to make, is Rossi is a douche, a total douche. I am guessing you agree with that. Maybe not???

The main reason I am replying to you is the general nastiness of your reply. "What planet you live on". "The reality based-one I inhabit". Really, is that language necessary? I live in Buckley, fyi. Are people so mean to each other in your reality based world? Why the meanness to another good progressive Dem? Can you disagree with me without the insults? Is that possible for you?

No wonder I come here less and less, the general nastiness of some people to others, especially people of the same side, is unbelievable.

while I agree he's a snake, I think Rossi (R-BIAW) is much more appropriate. This poll is great news..

14. Ask Rossi how he feels about health care
When I was a city councilperson, I had to go to some dinner in Olympia he was speaking at.

He claimed (and this was in front of 100 people; I'm sure someone else there must remember it,) that a family of 4 making $32,000 per year and on Washington state's Basic Heath program was "gaming the system". Yes, feel free to reread that.

A family of 4 making $32K anywhere but Eastern Washington is most likely living in a cardboard box. I can't wait till this ass is sent home by the voters, once and for all.

I live in Bremerton, and there are a lot of Rossi signs here too, but I don't think the signs are anything to worry about although, I'd like to see more Patty Murray signs, and by no means should we be complacent.

However, when Rossi was running against Gov. Gregoire in 2008, there were more Rossi signs all around Bremerton as well.

Republicans around here seem to be the loudest because they feel out numbered by liberals and other democrats, but Western Washington swings left, and we are more populated than Eastern Washington that swings right. :)

In Sequim the hot races are the county ones so not too many Rossi signs.

Come on, Fighting Patty, kick Do-Over Dino's ass......AGAIN!

I live in Puyallup, and there are Rossi signs all over the place. But I'm a solid vote for Murray, and King County should help swing it to her.

If Rossi goes down in a three-peat, will he finally give up and go away? I sure hope so...

24. I have heard, and this may not be true
but the signs are all over because there is a well organized PAID force to put them up, which is why we always see the R signs go up early, often and very strategically placed.

26. The RNC reported a couple of months ago
that they had less than $5 million on hand.

If anyone's paying Rossi's sign patrol, it's coming out of his campaign funds, or out of Tim Eyman's pocket. That is, if there's any money left there.

Rossi can put up all the signs he wants. It's not going to help him, especially when people dig into his platform and the crap he thinks will "fix" it all.

25. Patty has a BIG problem with her campaign.
I have yet to see a single Murray yard sign. Rossi has tons of them up everywhere. I e-mailed her campaign (getting a real contact e-mail was a job in itself)asking how to get a yard sign. I was told that I could go online to the Patty Store and buy one for $14.00! I'm not sure if that included shipping, but that is just a piss poor idea.
Yard signs are grossly underestimating the value and power of yard signs. They show the support of people just like yourself much better than Tv ads that run ad nauseam. Driving around, one gets the impression that no one supports her. I hope they get smart and use yard signs to get votes not donations. Yards signs are cheap, print them and pass them out Patty!!!
