Patrick Maintains Lead in Massachusetts, but we're still in danger
A new Suffolk University poll in Massachusetts finds Gov. Deval Patrick (D) leading Charlie Baker (R) in the race for governor, 41% to 34%, with Tim Cahill (I) in third place at 14%.

Key finding: Nearly half of all voters don't know Baker or haven't made up their minds yet about him. Among those who know Baker, he actually beats Patrick 39% to 38%.

Said pollster David Paleologos: "Charlie Baker doesn't need Tim Cahill (to exit the race) to win this. Charlie Baker needs Charlie Baker to win this."

2. Wouldn't the ones who "know" Baker more likely be Republican?
Just asking.

6. Not necessarily. As long as you follow local politics, Charlie Baker is on your radar.

3. I am not sure that the fact Baker is still unknown is a positive for Baker.
If after nearly several months of campaigning and ads, people dont know him, I would agree with the Herald that it is time for him to panic.

(which does not mean that we should not continue to fight hard for this rate, BTW)

5. Unfortunately for Deval, Charlie Baker comes across as an extremely reasonable man - and a lot
of voters in Massachusetts have been less than impressed with Deval Patrick.

As a Massachusetts native myself, I wouldn't be surprised to see a Charlie Baker upset in November. This state has a weird history of Democratic majority with a Republican governor.
