Teabagger Amash in trouble in MI-3rd??
Greetings fellow DUers,

There are some interesting developments in the MI-3rd race to replace retiring Vern Ehlers. In what should be an automatic win for R's in this red, red part of Michigan (home of Amway & Erik Prince) 50 Republicans have just endorsed the DEMOCRATIC PARTY'S candidate, Pat Miles, over Teabagger's wet dream Justin Amash. I'm pretty stunned, actually. This seat should have been a no-brainer for the GOP, but it's in real jeopardy. I still don't trust the people around here--they'd vote for a corpse if it had an "R" after their name--but Miles has gotten some pretty impressive endorsements, including members of Vern Ehlers' family!

I checked out Amash's website, and it contains all the Bagger bullshit you'd expect. His stance on the environment:

"The best way to protect and preserve the environment is through the strict enforcement of property rights. Private ownership encourages people to conserve natural resources, and it produces the innovations and behavioral changes necessary to protect the environment." Yeah, I'm gonna put all my faith and trust in Dow Chemical to do the right thing. Typical Libertarian crapola.

In the true fake Libertarian/Teabagger fashion, he wants government out of everything except a woman's uterus: "I believe that life begins at conception, and it is unconscionable that government would sanction the taking of the helpless and innocent. I will always vote against government funding of abortion and will fight to protect life at all stages. I am proud to be the only Third Congressional District candidate to have earned the endorsement of Right to Life of Michigan PAC."

Here's a link to a short article: http://www.woodtv.com/subindex/elections/

This could be another example of a Teabagger coming back to bite the GOP in a "can't lose" district.

Send $$$$ to Pat Miles if possible!!!!!!!!!!! :woohoo:

to turn the Dem into Hitler to the Osama bin Laden power ...

2. Oh this would just be AWESOME!
I was happily surprised at this news, too. A few weeks ago I met Pat Miles at the Polish Festival, and he far and away deserves this position more than Amash. Who knows how it'll work out though...

You know, even the crazies on Mlive/GR Press in the article comments yesterday weren't all excited over Amash either (though most were...)

3. It would be awesome.
I can't believe I was actually thinking about sitting this election out--in the past it didn't even matter if you votde or not--it was usually a 70-30 landslide in R's favor. I'm actually enthusiastic now.

:bounce: :hi:

4. "and will fight to protect life at all stages"
What a crock of shit statement.

Teabaggers only want to protect the "lives" of embryos. After the birth, if the mother lacks insurance or the assets/credit necessary to pay for their or any needed medical treatment(s)...then they can just both drop dead right there on the delivery-room floor.

5. That's what really pisses me off about the Right-to-Lifers
"Life" is sacred until you shoot out of the birth canal, then it's everyone for themselves. It makes absolutely no sense. It's mean-spirited and tells me it has a lot more to do with control over womens' bodies and less about the "sanctity of life". If life were so sacred to them, they wouldn't oppose health care and early childhood programs. Absolutely infuriating!
