www.courier-journal.com/article/20101019/NEWS01/310190072/Jack+Conway+again+defends+‘Aqua+Buddha++ad+against+Rand+Paul

"For the second straight day Tuesday, Democrat Jack Conway went on national television to defend his television ad on Republican Rand Paul’s religious beliefs — an ad that has drawn widespread criticism from both the left and the right.

“I stand by it,” he told Matt Lauer on NBC’s “Today Show,” adding that he wasn’t questioning Paul’s faith."

---------------

And from ol' Rand :"Paul arranged a conference call for reporters with several pastors who defended him and criticized Conway — some of them seeming to question the attorney general’s faith." POT/KETTLE

:crazy:

3. I saw Conway on with Lauer
Conway's tough. Lauer asked him about five different ways to get Conway to make some kind of judgment about Paul's faith, and Conway wasn't biting. He drew a bright line between Paul's college hijinks in the Aqua Buddha episode and connected it with Paul's lifelong career arc of kicking folks he considers inferior, including women, folks eligible for assistance under the Americans with Disabilities Act, and the unemployed. Conway made such a strong case for Paul's antipathy towards others that Lauer finally had to retreat and ask Conway about issues.

The media would like to make this about Paul's faith, a topic that Paul himself first broached. But they want to do it in some kind of vacuum where the Aqua Buddha story just springs from the earth, like Athena from Zeus' forehead. But there's a history and a pattern in Paul's career, and folks are doing their damnedest to ignore that while pretending that Conway has done something oh-so-horrid.

5. I hope you're right
It hasn't yet. I can't believe there are enough bozos in this country to make these people competitive. The idea that they're ahead makes me :crazy:

you must use more credible references. Reliable sources tell me Randi's fate rests not with Lord Aqua Buddah but rather with his wife Aqua Velva.:hide:

8. The Daily Kos has a new poll up
Apparently, the Aqua Buddha ad has had some positive results for Conway in Kentucky. Imagine that! It's a Democratic poll, to be sure, but it shows Conway up 49-47, which is certainly better than the alternative. Paul's abductee has also issued a statement re-affirming her story, and if you watch Paul's statement from the debate, you will notice his high dudgeon about Conway using the story against him, but Paul never quite gets to the point of denying that it happened.

Curious, wot?
