RELAX EVERYONE: THE GOP TAKEOVER OF THE HOUSE IS THE BEST NEWS FOR '12
It'll be nothing but a gridlock, and the Democratic Senate will be rejecting anything the GOP House passes with lockstep (as usual). Anything that gets past the Senate, will get rejected by Obama's veto pen and they do not have the numbers to override the veto.

Then once the voters sees that the GOP has done absolutely NOTHING at all whatsoever and they see their money is not improving, effectively kicking the Thugs out of power, and the Dems will take over the majority and hold the Senate again for '12 (it's ours to hold plus maybe +5 or +7 seats).

Please do not despair - NOTHING will be done for the next two years, thanks to the teabaggers.

And the result? America gets pissed at the Thugs, and we'll frame the message to torpedo any Rethug hopes for '12.

even with a minority, they have held EVERYTHING up! But look who gets the blame. Think that will change? I don't.

anything done". To those fearful idiots perhaps, PERHAPS, it may become apparent.

In my field, most of the jobs are in state and federal government. I guess I can kiss ever finding another job good-bye at this point, because they're going to be cutting them, rather than creating them.

if they were paying attention at all, they would have known how we got into this situation and who is responsible for it. And yet, they don't.

They do not use logic or reason or anything resembling intelligence.

8. right ...
with the "liberally biased media" suddenly remembering the "Dow Jones >10000" and the jobless numbers going down (and, for some reason, not reporting the fact that the numbers go down when people stop looking for work ... this has been the meme under Obama, forgotten under Bush43), it will be painted as "Hey, look at how the economy is recovering" (weakly, weaker than before) "under Boner's leadership!"

48. The only problem is - that's all people are gonna hear.
They're gonna hear NON-STOP, 24/7, how bad it still is. And NOBODY from Obama on down will be out there pushing back in the other direction. Our side will do the STOOOOPID thing, which is to assume that the American people will just know! They'll know! They'll look at their improved health insurance picture because of us and they'll look at the tax cut they got because of us and they'll just know!

NO THEY WON'T!!!!! ALL they're gonna hear is how Pox Noise and sarah palin and glenn beck and asshole limbaugh say things are shitty and we aren't recovering and everything is awful and the only thing that can possibly save us is a republi-CON in the White House and republi-CONS in the Senate and republi-CONS in the House because everything's just so awful awful awful.

And there will be NO PUSHBACK. NOBODY on our side gets it about the propaganda thing, the perception management thing. They just don't get it. You can't win just by doing good. You have to PROMOTE the bejeezus out of it!!! You can't take for granted that the American people will just see for themselves and know what happened and recognize the truth. They WON'T!!!! Especially if all they hear is the other thing.

Like it or not, our side DAMN WELL BETTER be on 24/7 round-the-clock campaign mode from now on. You can never afford to be NOT on 24/7 round-the-clock campaign.

21. a house divided
The simple fact is the GOP is divided into two camps...the tea party lead by Rand Paul and Palin and the Establishment Republicans...the last time a party was so divided was the Democrat party during the civil war with the anti slavery north dems vs the pro slavery southern dems and what happen then? Total republican domination of the white house for 30 something years

So the same thing will happen here...they won't able to field a candidate they can agree on. We will win in 012

Edited on Tue Nov-02-10 08:27 PM by depakid
Thus far the administration and the Senate has done a remarkable job of enabling, legitimizing, Republicans and adopting their policies, while insulting their own constituencies.

If it continues- or worse, if it gets even worse, all bets are off for 2012.

successes, large or small or you start to backslide. The GOP is all about Obama failure and they aren't shy about it. They will trash the country while they work relentlessly to get the white house back. Watch the stock market plunge soon in a theater near you.

32. Yep. They won't be able to hide.
The Tea Party folks will want action really fast, and Obama got a bunch of his less palatable agenda done in the last two years. Republicans are going to have to try to repeal health care and extend the Bush tax cuts for the rich. They won't be able to hide in the background and say no. And when they get in the open, they are sitting ducks.

44. See below. (from Wikipedia)
Impeachable offenses
In the United States, impeachment can occur both at the federal and state level. The Constitution defines impeachment at the federal level and limits impeachment to "The President, Vice President, and all civil officers of the United States" who may only be impeached and removed for "treason, bribery, or other high crimes and misdemeanors".<3> Several commentators have suggested that Congress alone may decide for itself what constitutes an impeachable offense.

In 1970, then-House Minority Leader Gerald R. Ford defined the criterion as he saw it: "An impeachable offense is whatever a majority of the House of Representatives considers it to be at a given moment in history."<4> Four years later, Ford would become president when President Richard Nixon resigned under the threat of impeachment.
