A lot of hand wringing over Grayson's loss
How about this for a thought to help you get through the night and into tomorrow.

It looks like Alan Grayson is going to lose his seat in the House. It is a voice we need.
Many here are disheartened with the Democratic Party, with their failure to put up
progressive leaning candidates. How about thinking of Grayson for chairman of the
Democratic National Committee.

Here he could have a bigger voice instead of just one voice. He could help shape the
Democratic party into a party that really could make a difference. He could help find
candidates that would promote the true values that this country was founded on.

Just give it a thought.

15. I am unsure that is the case.
Many people considered Barack Obama one of the most liberal Senators in Congress.

With a Republican house, the Democrats and the President can go on the offensive knowing that the Republicans actually has some responsibility now, and who would be more aggressive than Grayson?

19. Not saying it would happen...
but I think it would be a good position for him. I want to see him around in some capacity, and ultimately I don't think Obama is as far to the right as some might believe. He is just too much of a compromising pragmatist..but maybe that can change. :D

He is the man. My deepest respect for him and sorry that he lost tonight because WE NEED his voice. He is a fearless champion.

He would be perfect in California. Wow. Just thinking about it gives me goosebumps. His next role will be an even bigger and better one using everything he has experienced. Can't wait to see what he decides to do after he recharges.

35. Not such a strange idea.
Jay Inslee moved to a friendlier area after losing his seat once. I'm sure by moving to Oregon Congressman Grayson would find himself in a more collegial environment.

22. We are the party. What are you talking about?
The ad was correct. Too bad if the weasles who lead this party don't want to expose a fundie lunatic for what he is.

The ad was not what lost the race, it was because he was TARGETED with millions of dollars to try to shut him up.

That ad didn't even come close to being as offensive as Republican ads.

I am so sick of belonging to a party that shivers in its boots every time someone fights fire with fire.

I want to belong to a party that FIGHTS. This is why we are losing, because people wanted action, not appeasement.

As for Grayson, he won in a Republican district. He scared them so they spent a fortune to buy his seat for a fundie radical. Their loss, maybe our gain.

Blaming one ad for a loss is ludicrous.

Posters have said that Grayson's district was heavily Republican. His two years of criticizing Republicans most likely turned off a lot of his constituents, so that Republican attack ads were effective.

I hope he would continue in the public arena in an area in which people would be more receptive to what he has to say.

What lost Grayson his House seat was $14 million in dirty Koch money spent on attack ads.

26. You are talking about the guy who
run the "taliban Dan" ad, right?

I hope he is gone for good.

Lying and being dishonest are not traits I can tolerate in somebody who wants to have the power to change my life.

In 2008 172854 voted for him. This time only 73000 did.

I guess I am not alone in my sentiments about him.

38. He's not the most likeable guy one-on-one. He comes across as the only one with the answer
Don't get me wrong - I like Grayson. He says a lot of things that NEED to be said, but he says it with too much "look at me."
Questionable ethics and tactics did him in if constituent services didn't. Seriously. The stories I have heard about him picking up the phone and cussing out constituents does not a re-election make.

41. Speaking of being deceptive.
What was the voter turnout in 2008 and what was the turnout today?

Of course you are not alone in your sentiments. The rabid rightwing agrees with you and the corporate tools who have infiltrated the Democratic Party agree with you.

He will be back, I am sure of that. Next time hopefully in the Senate.

28. I have been reminding people on many threads that after Dr. Dean was driven
out of the presidential race by the MSM, he didn't just go home. Instead he virtually single-handedly rebuilt the Democratic party and made it viable all over the country. He established the campaign structure that Obama's campaign built on in 2008. And he continues to be a voice for sanity and progressive values on the national stage.

I am hoping that Alan Grayson will do the same sort of thing. The way he handled his two years in Congress made him a national presence, and I am hoping he will now use his fame to help push progressive values and to call the GOP on their lies, fraud, and general nastiness.
