Looks like the Green Party is going to be the reason Kirk(R) wins in Illinois

Kirk has a 0.6% lead right now.

Green candidate has 3.1%.

Greens shooting themselves in the foot, again. End up with the worst possible candidate, from their own perspective!

All these little Naders enabling the GOP.

2. yeah, let's kick the greens because they exercised their right to vote...
...for the candidate who best represents their interests. That's real classy. Not original, though.

18. I doubt that any of them voted for them...
...so honestly, what do you think? I mean, it's one thing to be angry because the republicans won-- that's understandable. But surely you don't actually think that greens-- who vote to the LEFT of democrats generally-- ever celebrate republican victories? That is utter nonsense!

9. Or maybe it's the crappy plurality voting system. There are other ways of handling elections so
that vote splitting doesn't happen.

But I feel your pain. We have two left of center candidates here in Maine who may split the vote and hand the governorship to a Tea Bagger favored Repub. :( I wound up voting for the one who had the slightly better chance of stopping him, even though I preferred his Dem counterpart.

10. that's just wrong
The Dems have failed those who would usually support them, and you blame the Greens?

Bullshit. Sorry, but it is.

3% to the Greens is simply not a number of votes that will really make a difference, and most likely, those votes were never in play for the Dems. The Greens were polling at closer to 7%, so a significant number of voters seriously considering the Greens, voted Dem.

I'd wager that those who voted Green this time would not vote for the Dem regardless of the situation. Without a Green on the ballot, they'd likely have sat out the election. 3% is a VERY LOW vote for the Greens.

Fix the problems in the Democratic party rather than blaming Greens for the Dems' failures.

The Dems do not own anyone's vote. They must EARN those votes.

11. TAKE RESPONSIBILITY FOR YOUR OWN FAILURE FOR ONCE FOR GOD SAKES.
What makes you think that Green Party voters would ever vote for the Democratic Party? They're a different party. You don't own their votes.

You failed. GIVE UP. YOU-FAILED. People like you push progressives out of the Democratic Party. You have no right to browbeat progressives and demand that they vote for your largely anti-gay, pro-war, union-busting candidates.

The Democrats ARE the worst possible candidates from their perspective. Just under a different name. If you want the progressive vote, then be progressive. If you want the wishy-washy independent vote, then continue to posture, union-bust, sell everyone out and simultaneously attack them.

Yep- had nothing to do with The Senate "leadership's" and the administration's sorry performance and the "strategy" of backhanding and gratuitously insulting its constituencies!

Some people never learn.

14. One could argue the Democrats are the reason the Green party lost.
If there was no Democratic party, I know I would vote Green.

Who would you vote for if there were no Dems?
