Until they have 100% tax payer only campaign finance and remove corporate person hood what's the point of giving a shit anymore? This is not a real democratic country. It's s fascist corporate controlled government ...and there's no going back.

4. And america will simply accept that the wealthy should, in fact, decide elections, because this is a
merit based society, after all, and the wealthy are by their very nature superior in every way. And then they will go back to reality shows and their declining lifestyles...

9. Even a ton of our churches think like this these days
So many of them spout that "Prosperity Gospel" crap, which isn't the Gospel at all.

I go to a social-justic oriented liberal Lutheran church, and our pastor has criticized the "Prosperity Gospel" on many occassions. I also applaud the Roman Catholic Church and many various traditions of Eastern Christianity that criticize it; in addition to Jews, Muslims, Buddhists, Hindus and members of other faith groups that criticize their faith's version of said materialist nonsense. Sadly, a lot of other churches and religious groups do not, and instead embrace it.

15. That "Prosperity Gospel" conflicts with "Blessed are the poor for they shall inherit the earth".
It's the poison of the christian religion. You can't mix the old covenant with the new as warned about "...you can't put new wine into old wine skins..." That prosperity crap comes from the old testament under the old covenant. I guess they don't read about how Jesus hung around with the poor, the prostitute, the criminals, the sick, didn't have a home or a pillow, no wife, no children, etc.

3. You're singing my song.
NO fucking way are we going to get the government we deserve without federally funded elections. What is so complicated that people don't fucking understand that?

I just hope that the way MSNBC pundits are asking the hard questions and not letting these bastards get away with bullshit answers continuities from tonight until forever.

Thank you, L0onix

13. Why don't we just get it over with and immediately institute a corporatist government similar...
Edited on Tue Nov-02-10 10:27 PM by Kievan Rus
to the one depicted in the dystopian sci-fi film Robocop? Because at the rate we're going after the Citizens' United decision, privatizers seeking to abolish the public domain and the common good, and increased corporatist control of the government like the ACTA intellectual property treaty, we're headed for something similar to that. Why not just get it over with and hand over the local, county, state and federal government to the corporatists and the privatizers?

16. This is why I'm having a hard time feeling bothered by tonight's results.
This country was sold - lock, stock, and barrel - long ago.

All we've really lost are a few leaders who wanted to throw us more crumbs than their opponents will.

our 'pretty little heads' trying to make a difference.

This was a very disapointing night- and damn it all I can't stop caring.

23. well,
I understand and share the frustration- yet I believe that Gandhi was correct when he said:

"When I despair, I remember that all through history the way of truth and love has always won. There have been tyrants and murderers and for a time they seem invincible but in the end, they always fall - Think of it, ALWAYS.

Otherwise life would be an appalling waste of time and energy, don't you think?

24. It may take more fortitude to realize the truth of the matter and endure.
The times clearly are not that of Gandhi. The stupid don't want to be with the intelligent ...it just makes them look more stupid ...and why would the intelligent care about being around the stupid or changing them. It's easy to be stupid and hard to be smart. It's no wonder we have a country of idiots.

I have a hard enough time avoiding being stupid myself.
