New York Update (Cuomo, Shneiderman, Schumer, Gillibrand, Green Party WIN)

DiNapoli is looking strong too.

One interesting result is that the Green party candidate for governor got 50,000 votes which means that the Green Party will have a permanent ballot position for the next four years. This is good news for democracy and bad news for Democrats all at the same time. Funny thing about this is that the only reason they did so well was that Cuomo had a huge lead. He was safe, so people felt OK switching parties.

3. It's not necessarily bad for the Democrats.
If the Democrats put up a good candidate, the Greens can also endorse him/her on their line. You're allowed to do that in New York. In fact, the first time Giuliani won the Mayor's race, he was the candidate of both the Republican and Liberal parties.

5. True, but the relationship between the parties hasn't been great.
There haven't been dems on green ballots. Of course, greens didn't have a fixed position. That might change now.

7. You can do it in Connecticut, too
There was a party way down on the list that shared the names of several Democrats for office.

6. I'm really pulling for DiNapoli
Howard Stern went gaga for his opponent on the Sirius today. I would LOVE to see Wilson go down.

9. And if he can keep his act together
and actually have the boldness his father lacked, he could be President in 6 years.
