He's starting his book tour tomorrow. The GOPPTB will watch him closely to see if he has the ability campaign on his feet, a legitimate question since he avoided debating Bill White before this election.

Its not going to be anyone from Washington DC

Its not going to be anyone that is currently an office holder

It almost certainly going to be a Governor, before Obama it was 40 years when a Senator was elected.

Mitch Daniels is the most popular Republican Governor. He can win in Iowa, NH and S Carolina.

He sounds reasonable and has more experience on budgets and government expenditure than any Republican and they are going to run on deficit reduction. He can make it sound reasonable. He doesn't get involved in emotional social issues.
