Is 4:30 in the morning to early to complain?

I stayed in bed all day yesterday. My dog hurt his leg so I figured since I was depressed anyway I'd spend the day with him.

I tried not to notice that Obama give away our Ace of Spades yesterday.

Tax cuts for the rich without a fight. TA DA!

Now this....

Obama Goes to Korea, Pining for Free Trade Agreements

In addition to education, another area where you can see the President and the Republicans in Congress agreeing is on the issue of trade. One of the first international figures Obama talked to on Election Day was the President of South Korea, and he assured him that the US was working on passing a free trade agreement between the two countries.

http://news.firedoglake.com/2010/11/04/obama-goes-to-korea-pining-for-free-trade-agreements/

I must have missed the part in the exit polling data that said the voters were demanding more free-trade agreements!

:sarcasm:

I was thinking, when I was in bed, that we've been telling our Democrats to get a spine since the 2000 election theft. Obviously they haven't heard a word of that.

It's hard to tell if our gutless leaders are caving on FTA because they're craven cowards or if they're so stupid they actually think "free-trade" creates jobs in this country. Either way this is a really really BAD idea. Even the teabaggers hate trade agreements.

I'm expecting this to blow up in the face of the adminstration like nothing else has!

We need to fire ALL the advisors in the WH! They're fucking idiots!

3. Both Sides Want To Punt This One...
While the GOTB would love to make the boooosh cuts for the rich permanent, they know a good meal ticket when they have one. Despite 95% of Americans seeing their taxes go DOWN last year, they were able to convince the sheeple they were going up. It's too golden a nugget to leave behind.

The "compromise" will be to extend all cuts for 2 years. The Democrats will claim "victory" in reaching "accomodation" :puke: The GOTB gets to play around with this political football in 2012.

There's bipartisanship, I tell ya :sarcasm:

5. I think you're right. Oh stupid is that? 2 years so the thugs can shake down the rich in 2012?

They could at least make them expire on and off year. I guess it's to much to ask our Dems to not help the thugs raise money!

14. The GOTB Have Made This A Win/Win For Them...
Years of propagating the false perception of being "fiscally responsible" has pushed the Democrats into yet another corner. Even though we know about all the defecits that soared under Raygun and booosh, the corporate media continues to echo the talking points about lower taxes and "freedom" and the rushpublicans then run with it.

Pushing the ball down the road also allows them to soak up boatloads of corporate cash from their uber-rich suckers...err donors. Look at it as another abortion shell game...for years they sweet talk the fundies but never have really put forth an effort to legislate against Roe v. Wade...and it's still a cash cow for them.

Cheers...

7. He's trying to get the trade deal passed . Here's another article.

Ford has launched an aggressive advertising campaign against the South Korea free trade agreement (FTA), which it argues would lock in unfair trade between the countries.

In newspaper advertisements running within and outside the Beltway, Ford argues that for every 52 cars Korea ships to the U.S., the U.S. “can only export one there.”

The ad states: “We believe in free trade, and this isn’t it. In fact, Ford has supported every trade agreement approved by Congress since 1965 — until this one.”

10. He is feeling a little bit better. He has bone problems ....
Edited on Fri Nov-05-10 04:55 AM by Joanne98
He's a big dog part husky and rott. The two breeds don't work that well as far as legs go. I know someday he's going to hurt himself and I'll have to have him put to sleep. I can't bear the thought. He's the greatest dog in the world.

Here's an AP article. It's only an hour old......

WASHINGTON (AP) — A possible compromise on extending Bush-era tax cuts for rich and poor alike — at least for a while — is in the works after the Republican triumph in midterm elections.

A day after President Barack Obama signaled flexibility on taxes following the "shellacking" voters delivered to Democrats, White House press secretary Robert Gibbs said Obama is willing to consider a compromise for a one- or two-year extension of the full roster of tax cuts, even for families earning more than $250,000 a year.

"He'd be open to having that discussion," Gibbs said.

Obama's long-standing position has been that individuals with incomes less than $200,000 a year and couples making less than $250,000 should continue to enjoy the tax cuts enacted during George W. Bush's presidency, but that those making more should return to the higher rates before Bush took office.

The tax cuts, enacted in 2001 and 2003, are due to expire Dec. 31. They include lower income tax rates, a $1,000 per-child tax credit, relief for married couples and lower taxes on investments and large estates.

Gibbs said the White House wants the issue dealt with before Jan. 1 so that taxpayers will avoid seeing more money withheld from their paychecks or being hit by the higher alternative minimum tax. This would produce an average $3,700 higher tax bill come April for some 30 million middle-income families.

"I think what the president believes is that we have both houses coming back and that this is an issue that must and has to be dealt with in that session," Gibbs said.

Republicans welcomed the developments but expressed caution since the White House hasn't been more explicit.

"I take any signal that the president may be backing off his pledge to raise taxes on small businesses as a good sign, but we have to see where this discussion goes," said Rep. Dave Camp, R-Mich., who will become chairman of the tax-writing House Ways and Means Committee in January.

Even before the election, Democrats were splintered over Obama's plan to raise taxes on people with high incomes. The GOP might win a showdown if it came to that in the current Congress.

The obvious — and perhaps only — way to get an agreement this year is for a one- or two-year extension of all the tax cuts. The incoming Congress and Obama would then have plenty of time to sort it out later.

"There's bipartisan opposition to raising taxes on anybody," said Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell, R-Ky. "What I hope we'll do is come together ... and agree to extend the current tax policy for everyone."

McConnell spokesman Don Stewart said the Republican Senate leader is amenable to a two-year extension.

Gibbs reiterated that Obama won't go along with a permanent extension of the upper bracket tax cuts, which would cost about $700 billion over the upcoming decade.

"Making those tax cuts for the upper end permanent is something that the president does not believe is a good idea," Gibbs said.

Failing to extend the Bush-era tax cuts wouldn't affect next year's filing season but employers would have to withhold more money from workers' paychecks.
