A majority of Americans wanted a Public Opinion...

Imagine what would have happened if Obama had led instead of capitulating to the Senate.

DUers and progressives would be drinking champagne and dancing in the streets instead of drowning ourselves in cheap liquor.

1. We have public opinions all over the place.
So, clearly, American got what they wanted.

3. The Public Option
no deals with Big Pharma and some real justice with the bankers would have given us a generation of dems.

Contrary to what some continuously say no one was expecting a quick turnaround, things were way too bad for that but people were looking for a new direction and they did not see it. Unfortunately they chose representatives who are not going to give them that at all.

9. Yep-- the Democratic leadership took a "where else you gonna go?" approach

very early in regards to public opinion. They just went after the corporate dollars, assuming they had it locked up.

5. I'll tell you exactly what would have happened
The Senate DLC-o-crats would have said NO anyway, in spite of all of the presidential lobbying, thereby killing the bill.

No health care bill at all = -100 seats in the House, -11 in the Senate.

6. Little bit more to the story
According to THAT poll, a majority of Americans want what President Obama ended up getting: a mandate that all Americans buy insurance. Why are you not celebrating that?
According to THAT poll, a majority of Americans favor it if it is available only to those who lack affordable private options.
According to THAT poll, a majority of Americans do not support taxing private plans to pay for a public option. Other than that, I didn't see any data on what people supported in order to fund it.

I wonder why?

Oh, thats right, because that other poll that was being used to show +70% support for a public option ALSO showed that not even half of Americans were willing to pay for it. If you won't pay for it, you don't support it.

No matter how much wishing and spinning people do, the basic FACT is that President Obama took what he could get and that is better than nothing. Well, at least it is to those millions and millions that will be helped by it.

7. I have a public opinion, don't you?
What we don't have, is a public option, and it's beyond shame.

8. You meant to say "option" right?
Yeah...that whole deal was never about health care. Even if he'd led, it wouldn't have been to a public option.

10. Universal health care for all......
these arguements are foolish Republican talking points. What has happen to the Democratic Party?

Obama and the fools on the hill made me leave the party, or just throw up everyday! The Dems got what they had coming for being the Democratic Corporate Party! What ever happened to a political choice?
