1. And it never will change. Too bad. That was a nice story
even if the reason for the story was horrid. I loved that these children who were put through so much at such a young age turned out so well.

2. I like the parents who crossed the hate line although eventually they all left the schools
some schools in other cities like Norfolk, Va just shut down

3. That took more courage than we can imagine today.
This was part of a fundamental change in the way this country treated all minorities. I have to give kudos to the preacher who started it all. A strong man. I am the same age as these ladies, and since there were racial mixes already in our school in our small town, I would not have understood what the big deal was.

4. Yes -- they manifest as the KKK, Birchers, white supremacists, militias,
or just your everyday garden variety red-necks. Since the sixties they've pretty much been at the fringe -- but it's really scary now that we have them as sitting congressmen and senators.
