NH Grandma groped by TSA blasts ‘invasive’ body search

RYE — A local grandmother’s Nov. 12 wardrobe choice of cargo pants with zippers made her victim of the federal government’s new full-body pat-down searches at airports.

Diane Bitter said she was passing through Manchester Airport en route to Arizona last Friday when her pants zippers triggered a metal detector.

“Of course you can’t just take your pants off,” she said, explaining she was then directed to step aside for an “insane” inspection.

“Right out in the middle of everything,” a female airport screener began patting Bitter’s body in places she did not expect.

“She touched my private parts,” said Bitter.

Pressed for details, the 67-year-old Rye Beach resident said the airport employee put her hands inside the waistband of her pants, felt around her waist, passed her hands over both her breasts, and rubbed her hands up and down the insides of her legs - “twice in front and twice in back.”

“As it got more invasive, I thought, ‘why am I consenting to this?’” she said. “It was totally humiliating.”

Man claims Charlotte TSA employee groped his 6-year-old son
Posted: Nov 17, 2010 7:51 PM PST

CHARLOTTE, N.C. (WBTV) - Are children exempt for pat-downs at airport security? Not according to one man who says a TSA employee groped 6 year-old son at Charlotte Douglas International Airport.

The alleged incident is part of the growing backlash over the full body scans and pat downs at airports nationwide.

WBTV found the anonymous submission on a blog, "We Won't Fly." The man says the incident happened earlier this month and he describes how his little boy was traumatized saying the TSA agent groped his groin and that the little boy left the checkpoint in tears.

The commenter says his son was aggressively patted down by a TSA employee.

"He was pleading for me to help him and I was admonished for trying to comfort him," the comment on the blog states. "His genitals area was groped. He walked down to the plane in tears."

3. I'm already planning a two week vacation next summer -
taking two weeks to drive around California visiting friends the length of the state instead of flying out to one location and hanging out for a couple days.

Bonus! I can bring my dog!

8. I believe you will find it much more enjoyable
because you will actually SEE things instead of just flying over them. I think people have lost touch with the country they live in by flying over so much of it.

4. I really hope that's everyone's reaction.
We'd find out how determined they are to screw with us if it meant having the whole industry collapse.

2. What happened to that 6 year old
was part of the reason my child molester brother in law got a jail sentence and two years probation.

But if you want to travel by plane, it's all legal.

bastards.

5. So when are we going to push back on all this fear crap?
And call it like it is? It doesn't need to go to this level, the government is overreacting.

21. Several things you can do
1.- CALL CONGRESS, NOW, well tomorrow.

2.- Don't fly if that is an option.

3.- With all this insanity, realize that the call to privatize this is NOT a good idea.

6. We are *passengers*, not prisoners. This is seriously fucked up.
I'll take my chances with the terrorists not wearing uniforms, thank you very much.

7. I quit flying about 8 years ago. Fortunately I have that option and I have never
missed cattle car flying once. This is all getting ridiculous. Of course the US, as usual, knows everything and won't listen to other countries on security checks.

Now, when does this start up on trains, buses, maybe check points for passenger cars. Once this SH** goes overboard, there is no end to it...

9. I feel sorry for the all the messages the kid got.
Being molested by someone in uniform.
Dad is not able to protect him.
Flying is double plus terrifying.

A parent putting a child in that situation is complicit in child abuse. I would NEVER allow that to happen to my children.

Where the hell is common sense anymore???

24. I doubt the father would have allowed it had he known what was coming
Now he knows, I doubt he'll take his son flying again.

When it's actually happening, it is very difficult to *safely* intervene. The people doing the groping don't care about you or your child -- you don't want your child to accidentally get physically injured or killed in the ensuing brawl.

Sooner later -- maybe as soon as Thanksgiving, what with the holiday rush and crowding, plus free-floating rage -- there's going to be an all-out brawl over this. It'll take just one person to throw a punch in self-defense....

11. Unfortunately it's not the airline industry
In fact, they hate the new "security" procedures because many passengers are calling to cancel their travel plans, meaning the airlines are losing money. The TSA does not solicit input from the airlines, and they are therefore, forced to live under these new guidelines.

12. Then they need to take a stand and strike. They will have these things every where before long
Edited on Thu Nov-18-10 10:06 PM by sarcasmo
if we don't take a stand now. There is no backbone in this country. The overlords like Chertoff leave office and sell this shit equipment back to the government and a huge profit. Us Americans just go along like cattle and take the probe. I sure hope this is something that wakes this country up.

13. The pilots and flight attendents unions have already come out against them
And their movement is gaining a lot of momentum. It's hit the media all over and there is already a protest scheduled for this upcoming Wednesday (day before Thanksgiving. Typically the busiest travel day of the year)

think is a good thing.

It is NOT.

Logan employee accused of raping 14-year-old girl

WINTHROP, Mass. -- A Transportation Security Administration worker at Logan International Airport is accused of assaulting a 14-year-old girl.

Sean Shanahan, 45, of Winthrop is being held on $50,000 cash bail following his arraignment in East Boston District Court. He is charged with statutory rape, enticement of a child and indecent assault and battery on a person 14 or older.

He has also been ordered not to contact the victim or any minors.

Winthrop Police said this all started when a father contacted them about sexually explicit text messages on his daughter’s cell phone.

Shanahan reportedly began contact with the girl in January.

I just looked up a trip form the Northwest to New York. With a sleeper car. Pretty reasonable for a vacation - and beautiful scenery.

Edited on Fri Nov-19-10 05:31 AM by TheWatcher
Come on, tell us how this is all hysterical hyperbole, taken out of context, exception to the rule, faux outrage, and dangerous hearsay.

The 6-year old was obviously not a responsible, compliant, Good Little Citizen, and we simply couldn't take any chances that this could be the Fisher-Price Bomber that we have long suspected would appear from the emerging threat of Junior Al-Qaeda.

Come on, set us straight with your calm, reasoned, rationalism and sloganeering, and soothe and assure us that this is all perfectly loving, trendy, and Of The Lord.

Come on, we need you!

Well....We're Waiting.....
