9. There Does Come a Point

As left-leaning as I am...Social Democrat...I have still always said I felt enough love for my country to stay and FIGHT for it. It is MINE too. I'm 53 and have been fighting since Viet Nam.

...right now, I am no longer sure. I'm tired and this country just gets more ill by the minute. There ARE better places to live. I am a mentally ill, unmedicated, uninsured, unemployed lesbian and I can't even get on the insurance of the women I have spent 15 years with and intend to spend the rest of my life with.

All of those issues: treatment of the mentally ill, medical care, health coverage and marriage equity I can find other places and I have a right to feel safe and well cared for. "Compassion" has become demonized in the USA. This country is actually becoming my bane.

If we had the money, we would leave. I have no doubt.

I've been doing this for years and years and years with almost no medical care or help and I'm just getting past the point. I'm way tired.

I want to go someplace that's else and relax and mock the US in comfort. The place is sick and getting sicker and evidently the majority of people like it this way.
