they didn't pass the unemployment extension yesterday, 2 million families cut off today, but the

rich will get get their tax cut...$4 Trillion every 10 yrs..subdizizing the richest people on the face of the earth

top 1% holds 6 Times the Financial wealth that of the bottom 80% who hold only 7% of financial wealth.. so the top 20% holds ..93%.. of all the Financial wealth of America.. they didn't get it honestly. Buffet only pays 14% income tax, Gates pays what a family making $80,000 does.. and the Bu$h43 tax cut only benefits the top 2.5% richest not mom & pop.

"...20% or more of the child population in 16 states and D.C. are living in food insecure households. The states of Arkansas (24.4 percent) and Texas (24.3 percent) have the highest rates of children in households without consistent access to food. the Psychotic Obsessive Compulsive Hording of wealth in this country should be declared a threat to National Security.

the GOP platform is based on... wealth is proof of gods favor of a man, so it is a sin to tax a rich man/corporation and the poor are proof of gods disfavor of a man.. so it is a sin to help them..

3. Well, 1789 didn't actually work out so well
It led to the Reign of Terror, then the emergence of Napoleon, then back to the Bourbon Dynasty, all within the course of 30 years.

And the November 1917 revolution led to the emergence of a decades-long dictatorship that resulted in the deaths of millions of people.

8. If you want to go that way, what did 1776 get us?

10. Depends on who "us" is
Speaking for myself, I would rather have had the fruits of 1776 that I enjoyed in 1976, than the fruits of 1789 that were manifested in 1794 (or 1804, or 1814), or the fruits of 1917 that were manifested in 1922.

4. Those are the days that the repukes and corporate bigwigs dream about.....
Only white men with property could vote, no stupid laws about child labor, no unions, no minimum wage, no paid vacations, no sick days, no health care, no environmental restrictions, no taxes on the filthy rich, poor houses, slave labor, no education for anyone but the wealthy, etc...AHHH...It was paradise back then.

13. I only wish I could get a clear picture of Americans rising up with pitchforks and torches to storm
the castle walls...The rampant ignorance and complacency makes me pessimistic. The fact that the media is a wholly owned subsidiary of the right does not make it any more likely, either.

2. all of this is good and well.... :sarcasm:

but what absolutely blows me away is this latest tidbit of info:

the richest Americans QUINTUPLED (!!!! yes, increased FIVE-FOLD!!!) their income in 2009.

Top U.S. Incomes Grew Five-Fold in 2009, to a $519 Million Average
http://www.dailyfinance.com/story/taxes/top-us-incomes-grew-five-fold-in-2009-to-a-519-million-average/19688820/

http://www.bloomberg.com/news/2010-10-25/america-s-top-earners-saw-pay-quintuple-last-year-to-average-519-million.html
Highest Earners' Pay Quintupled in 2009, Government Data Show

AS IF income and wealth inequality was not rampant/atrocious enough already.

Add to that RECORD (and HISTORICALLY UNPRECEDENTED) corporate profits AND Wall Street bonuses (while the working people take one hit after another), and... you get the picture. :nuke: :throws the computer:

It inevitably concentrates wealth.

11. Links don't work. How does Buffett pay only 14%?
And how does Gates pay only what a family making $80,000 pays for taxes?

Unless he's plowing ALL his income into business expenses, which means it's going toward company growth.

I'm a high income earner, taking as many deductions as I can, but I've never paid less than the maximum tax rate. (And yes, I have a very good accountant who tells me it's legally impossible to do better.)
