Then I would invoke the nuclear option and set it to expire on Jan 1st, 2011 (30 days), get as many progressive bills passed, legislation to protect and "add" a 4th rail to Social Security. To pay for it, I would cut all Afghanistan and Iraqi operations to 10% and order that the rest of the money remaining on the budget to bring home all the troops. To further advance progressive ideals, more budget cuts has to be made - but zero cuts on education, infrastructure, R&D, job development. As a matter of fact, I would want to increase some serious funding on both to kickstart the job front. Encourage all US-based companies to start churning jobs out of the wazoo by giving them the tax breaks, but ALSO at the same time, enact a heavy tariff on all imports. US-based companies that import their crap from foreign countries instead of America would double taxed because of failure to bring jobs in the United States. If Japan won't let us export our American-made cars, why would we let their cars in America? Revoke ALL free-trade agreements, maintain that although we would like to continue to trade with Canada/Mexico, new rules would have to apply. Finally, sign an EO terminaing ALL of the remaining Bush holdovers and ask for immediate consideration of all replacements to be approved through the Senate or by the President. I would introduce legislation condemning the USSC for the Citizens United decision and begin impeachment proceedings against the Felonious Five. Nominate and confirm their replacements. Pass a new legislation to get the private money out of elections and go all public funded elections. Re-enact the Fairness Doctrine.

That's just the first day... what wouold you do?
