Just Heard On Hairball...Obama Claims He's A Blue Dog?
That according to rushpublican spinster Mark McKinnon. Anyone seen or heard or have a link to verify this?

Discuss....

4. Yep. Didn't they get their asses kicked?
Republicans vote for the Republican Right Winger every time. They have no constituency.

3. Just Heard That Too
Just moments before my head exploded. So basically he's saying he's republican lite, which would explain a lot.

:nuke:

7. Centrist Yes...Blue Dog Not Quite
In '07 I was at the DKos debate with all the candidates and on that day Senator Obama wasn't the most Progressive on that stage (DK won that one) but he did come off more to the left than Hillary and Biden. At that debate he came out strongly for the public option...not quite blue dog material. But actions say different...and those are the ones that matter.

Cheers...

13. Speeches smhmeeches
as I said, those of us who READ THE FUCKING VOTING RECORD of SENATOR Obama... not pretty speeches... are NOT surprised.

He was and IS a moderate Democrat... which is truly a right winger by any other international standard.

I expect a few on the defend Obama at all costs to soon come here and tell me just how wrong I am.

By the way we even said this during the campaign, that we were not getting a liberal by any stretch... and would be LUCKY to get another Clinton. It seems we were right. And by the way I take no comfort on this.

17. Those Who Thought Differently...
...definitely didn't do their homework and are among the first and the loudest critics. I won't rehash the primaries as I avoided the personality games that most of the posts and fights were all about...surface vs. substance.

Even as a "moderate", one would think he would have taken stronger stands on issues he supposedly cared for. He appears to think he's above the rest of us...somehow whatever compromise he comes up with should make us happy. It hasn't and the patience of many of us have been stretched and close to breaking. If we see a cave on the tax cuts...an extension...it ain't gonna be pretty around here.

Cheers...

32. Well the whole establishment is out of contact with
The people, so it will not be pretty, period.

I wonder how long until the people do more than just gripe?

Oh and his tactics make some sense if you are doing community organizing. But he's dealing with emboldened junkyard dogs.

10. Why I Asked If There Was A Link To Substantiate
He said it in such a nonchelant way...and wanted to see if there was a link to verify this. Ya'd think if such a think was out there, DU would have exploded by now.

14. When has DU ever supported links?
Half the posts here are based on hearsay, innuendo and fabrications, and posters are attracted to it like sharks to chum. When someone does provide a link contradicting the unsourced statements, they get ignored.

FYI, I'm not attacking you. Sorry if it came off that way.

which claims that Obama privately says he's a blue dog.

16. Ah...Matt Bai...#29 On The Salon Hack 30 List...
http://www.salon.com/news/politics/war_room/2010/11/22/hack_list_29/index.html

These are all allusions to a center-right consensus that exists solely among comfortable Washingtonians (from both parties and neither party), treated as if it represents the national ideal.

So Bai, charged with covering the modern progressive movement, covers it as if its naiveté about the role of government in a post-industrial economy is a given fact, rather than the opinion of the guy writing the story.

12. IIRC,
Obama did say he was a New Democrat, which would make him DLC, which,in turn, would make him a Blue Dog, wouldn't it? If he's not a Blue Dog, he's one hell of a good actor!
