I need some explanation and clarification re: the Unemployment Extension and Tax Break -
1) Has the vote taken place about the Unemployment extension? I thought I'd heard it had, but some people are saying 'no' -- so

2) Am I correct in thinking the vote on Middle Class ONLY tax cut extension will be held in the House tomorrow?

Thanks!

1. I believe the unemployment extension was voted on
and failed to pass the House, but will come up again for a vote.

Tomorrow they will vote on the Middle Class Only tax cut, which I doubt will pass, but will give the Dems ammo to use against the repukes,as in: you vote against the Middle Class but want to give money to the rich who don't need it.

I think that's what's happening, but maybe somebody else knows for sure.

2. Thanks. I think the Dems should be screaming from the rafters that the
Republicans voted against extending unemployment.

It'll be interesting to see what happens tomorrow during the vote. And, probably more importantly, what the Dems say after it. I sure hope they DO use it as ammo. :hi:

3. what happens in the house is irrelevant
whatever is eventually agreed to in the senate is what will matter. The vote in the house for the middle class tax cuts is for show to satisfy to some degree the Democrat's base. The prevailing wisdom now is that all tax cuts will be extended 2 years or perhaps 3 if it's decided that 2012 and the election cycle would or would not be good timing for the debate again.
