Poll question: Is a 1-to-3 year extension of the Bush Tax Cuts© what you'd consider to be sensible common ground?
House to Vote on Middle Class-Only Tax Cuts

Published December 02, 2010

http://www.foxnews.com/politics/2010/12/02/lawmakers-negotiate-tax-cuts-house-plans-vote/

Obama has specifically voiced his objection to a permanent extension "to the wealthiest Americans.

"Having said that, we agreed that there must be some sensible common ground," Obama said.

That leaves open the possibility of a temporary extension of all the tax cuts.

Later, Gibbs declined to say whether Obama would support extending all the tax cuts for up to three years, which would push the issue beyond the next presidential election, in 2012.

4. Option 3 is kind of a passive-aggressive jab at Obama losing the election
At least that's how I take it.

5. Nope, that's not how I intended it at all...
...if it gets punted into 2012 or beyond, he doesn't have to worry about it for the remainder of his first term. That's all that meant, so your take is not correct.

14. OK. I'm fine with that.
Not the first time I have to come to grips with the fact that I don't always look at things in the most positive light.

Sorry for the misinterpretation.

6. The fact that anyone is even discussing an extension of tax
breaks for the rich tells me just how screwed up American economic policy is.

8. No. A more than generous compromise would be to increase the
extension threshold to 250,001 dollars.

10. Republicans want this to be a 2012 issue... simple as that!
They think the only way to win elections is to promise low taxes and to spread fear of tax increases to the voters.

It's a win win for Republicans, and Lose Lose for Dems.

Rip out that Bush tax cut for the rich NOW, so Republicans can't use it again in 2012.

11. Not only should the tax breaks end for the rich ...taxes should be increased for them.

13. I voted "other".
I'd only support it if there was a 3yr extension on unemployment benefits, including the 99ers; however, given Obama's penchant for throwing out the baby with the bath water, I doubt that would happen.
