Gore Isn't Running (Yet) -LA Times
kpete: if any of you are tired of all the "Gore" Speculations - I just gotta believe, forgive me...

Gore Isn't Running (Yet)

"I'm not trying to be coy or glib in any way," he says coyly during an interview this week in Beverly Hills. "I have no plans or intentions or expectations of running."

Really? Are you sure? You mean you'll never run again? Laurie David will become your adopted child if you do.

He laughs and goes with the thought.

"Well, when you put it that way, I haven't completely ruled out the possibility of thinking about it sometime in the future, but I don't expect to," he says, obviously spoofing all the answers he's given on the subject in recent weeks.

Oh, so you're saying maybe you'll think about maybe doing it? You haven't ruled it out?

"I have no desire to slam the door shut...

2. PLEASE SAVE US, AL!
I think he would win in a landslide. (If we were to kidnap him, hold him as hostage and force him to run for president, would that be wrong?):hi:

And I was doing graphics for something else, so here's a fast-and-sloppy graphic to
concur with your comment:

Hey, I've seen it for UFOs, Santas, and Andy Kaufman, so why not Al. lol

Edited on Fri May-25-07 09:29 AM by sallyseven
The American people are too dumb to vote for their own good. He isn't stupid and has said no as politely as he could. Get over it. The minute he says yes you guys would be starting to criticize. You do it all the time. Nothing makes you happy.

8. Oh, now there's a friendly post full of assumptions ... and yes, he is running
When you've met the American people and have administered to them IQ tests, then maybe
then you can make that assertion. lol He didn't say "no", except to the Secretary of
State question, to which he said a very clear "no". It's clear to anyone who can read
subtle signatures in statements that Al is going to run, he's just waiting for the very
best time to do that. As he said, he can wait. And he doesn't like to see Christmas
stuff up right after Halloween. Since the Nobels are being handed out in November, sounds
about right for Christmas to come 'round the bend. :)

BTW, we did vote for him the last time he was elected. Junta Bush just veto'd our election
results.

Let them continue to trash this country for seven years. I think that's immensely dumb and cowardly.

We're a country full of abused children with a heartless stepfather. Small wonder we don't
speak up.

31. When the rest of humanity is perfect, then they can talk to us
I'm not a perfect person, so I tend to give others the benefit of the doubt rather than
assume I alone know what is best for everyone to do.

Saying that, I'm adding you back to my ignore list.

11. Because he's the only one who can speak truth to power
He won't have to run a 'political' campaign because he's so far above politics at this point. He simply has to show up and speak the truth.

10. I want to believe, maybe even need to believe he'll run.
But I also THINK he will run. He's just waiting. Why start spending money now? Why put on his bullseye shirt for the media now? Why give himself so much extra time to fumble a joke, say something opponents can construe as stupid, or even sigh in a way the media will paint as arrogant?

No, Mr. Gore is too smart for that. He's been there before and will play it smart this time around. For now, he's campaigning without campaigning by writing and movie making and collecting awards for those works while he advances the most important causes he holds so dear. He's getting free PR and doing the smart thing by attacking Bush with his air time. When he announces his candidacy he will have my fullest support and I'll do anything I can to get him elected. Until that glorious moment, go Dennis Kucinich!

12. Gore in 2012
I'll bet the deed to my ranch that Al's gunning for 2012. The American people (and the press) aren't ready for him yet. In five years they'll be begging him because the Democratic president who wins in 2008 will be more or less business as usual.

You don't have to be a Mayan prophet to see there will be enormous earth changes by 2012. The Democratic wing of the Corporate party will keep pouring billions into Iraq as our cities slide into the seas. The nation will be gripped by panic and it will finally dawn on them that Al Gore was right along.

Reason! What a novel concept! Our once great nation is sliding down that slippery slope into oblivion. Things have to get worse before they get better. Wake up, America, and smell the reason! Pass the smelling salts and elect Al Gore for president in 2012!

14. Didn't everything get worse in the last four years?
Edited on Sat May-26-07 12:22 PM by RestoreGore
So where was that urgency in 2004? I agree with the poster above you. IF he is even thinking of it which he says he is not now, he must wait to see the changes he is looking for and that will only come about by US doing that work. He will not be able to stop glaciers from melting, drought, deforestation, flooding and rising sea levels himself now no matter where he sits. THAT has to cone from a global effort and a change in moral conscience that goes beyond any one office and which he already is a part of. It will not be too late FOR US to do something to stop it from getting worse if he doesn't run this time, but it most certainly will be too late for this planet it we don't stop dreaming and get doing regardless of who sits in that White House.
