Central Ohio Soldier Killed In Afghanistan

COLUMBUS, Ohio — The body of an Ohio soldier was returned home on Wednesday night.

Staff Sgt. Curtis Oakes, of Athens, died while serving in Afghanistan, 10TV's Danielle Elias reported.

Oakes, 29, was killed by a Taliban "sleeper agent" who posed as a police officer, the Army said.

Oakes was one of six U.S. soldiers that were shot and killed on Monday when an Afghan police officer started shooting while they were all going to training.

A graduate of Alexander High School, Oakes leaves behind a wife and three children.
