Bush Tax Cuts: Fears Mount Of White House Cave On Top Priority

WASHINGTON -- Democrats and Republicans tentatively agreed late Thursday to hold four "test votes" on Friday to see who holds the balance of power and what the final details of a tax-cut compromise will be, a top leadership aide tells HuffPost.

The four:

-- the House-passed bill, which caps the tax cut extension for families at the first $250,000 in income.

-- another bill, sponsored by Sen. Chuck Schumer, to cap the cuts at $1 million.

-- a bill from GOP leader Mitch McConnell, to permanently extend all the cuts.

-- a forth -- the key one -- still being finalized and probably calling for a two-year extension of all cuts.

The test votes will be "fake filibusters" -- ones to see if any measure can get 60 votes. Senate Democrats may meet as a caucus to discuss the plan tonight.

The schedule of Friday votes is the result of direct talks between Democratic Leader Harry Reid and McConnell late today. "We need to see where we all stand," said the aide.

1. God forbid if the Democratic Leadership negotiated my
release from a kidnapper. I would be doomed. "We want you to release Mr. Bonhomme Richard but we are willing to accept a leg if you insist."

4. WTF is "courage?" Just doing things your way?
This one is stupider than stupid. they want to test the waters to see where the representatives are, and that's "cowardly?" Is this word coming to mean something other than what it means? What does courage have to do with voting in Congress? It is courageous to vote your way rather than their constituent's way? What is there to fear for a congressperson voting on a bill? They won't be killed either way. Or jailed. Or sent off to the gulag.

5. And the shame is that while you're attacking me, you can't see the irony in your own post

"What does courage have to do with voting in Congress?"

Nope...no irony there. I need to put you on ignore now.
