OK.

Sounds good to me.

Perhaps Congress can begin their winter recess now and join him.

7. They are risking their lives for wars based on a mountain of lies.

If I were a GI in Afghanistan I'd tell President Obama to stop the back slapping and just get us home now!

Does President Obama really need more pr photos to shore up his standing with war hawks?

16. And that somehow makes them less important?
I think it's just the opposite and I'm glad he takes the time to visit them.

I hate the war as much as you do, but a lot of those young men and women believe in what they're doing and getting the moral support of the President is never a bad thing.

28. But you're not a GI in Afghanistan...
so you presuming to speak for them is the height of arrogance.

Yanno, there's a lot of other things you can criticize him for, but this? After 8 years of the Brush Clearer in Chief?

Unbelievable

I think it is so funny that folks are bitching because he went to a war zone. *amn that Obama takes every junket he can. He's a lazy guy. This place is getting weirder by the minute. Pretty soon Skinner is going to have to rename it Rethuglican Underground!

14. My guess is that there isn't one thing that obama could do that would please you.
Is visiting a country that he insists on invading / occupying / bombing really a holiday for him? I can bet you that he didn't show up with a plastic turkey. This pisses me off too because now I can't post my 'Why does Obama ignore the troops over the holidays?'thread. Who knows maybe the soldiers will tell him to get them the heck out of there and he will listen. Some good could come of this.

20. He should pick up a rifle and join a unit over there for a few days.
A forward unit.

Maybe then he would end these fucked up wars.

Everything he does now is suspect, and seen through cynicism.

These threads have outlived their usefulness. All they are good for now is waiting for someone to declare their last straw and draw a line in the sand. Hey, it's been done to death. :puke:

24. How long do you suppose he'll be in Afghanistan, there,
Better Believe It? He is Commander-in-Chief, you know. The military is one of his important responsibilities. He'll be there for a few hours, and then he'll be back again. In the process, he's still connected, you know. He's not in an information or communications blackout.

He'll be back at the White House tomorrow, doubtless doing thing of which you do not approve. He's not moving to Afghanistan.

Unrecommended.

29. Setting aside the support of the people in harm's way and
possible negotiations with the Afghan government, the image of Obama as a Commander-in-Chief strengthens his hand when dealing with the Rethugs in Congress.
