I had a horrible thought about Obama today
Edited on Fri Dec-03-10 01:54 PM by NightWatcher
ON EDIT: IT APPEARS LIKE A PR STUNT. I realize it takes months of planning....

Just after it appears that he will cave on tax cuts for the rich and will not force Congress to extend unemployment assistance to the unemployed on the day when larger than expected numbers come out, he's....wait for it.....wait for it, In Afghanistan surrounded by the troops. How horrible that it appeared to me he ran for shelter like the last President did anytime his name was being dragged through the mud.

(on edit: I dont want to be so jaded, but damn)

You know, he can not force congress to extend unemployment benefits...
Edited on Fri Dec-03-10 02:02 PM by Ozymanithrax
that is not one of his enumerated powers.

Republicans Senators do have the power to stop that with the filibuster in accordance with Senate rules.

Should we also blame Him for a cloudy day?

He didn't move to Afghanistan. The problems will still be here waiting for him. Presidents have many jobs. Troop morale is an important one. I think we can spare him for a day, don't you?

19. Really? I don't think so. You do know that this has been
planned for a while. You don't know about those plans, because they aren't EVER released in advance.

This is not a PR stunt. It's part of the job of a President. Not everything is some sort of conspiracy. Some things are just doing your job. That's what President Obama is doing. His job. What are you doing?

20. Or, it has the feel of a man facing up to his awesome responsibility over there.
Unless you believe that everything he does is in some way calculated to hurt the little people and trample democracy.

21. Or that everything he does to hurt little people and trample democracy is really just

some brilliant "multi-dimensional chess" strategy.

12. no not really, I was a volunteer for him going back to the Primaries
I am disappointed that the Senator who was frustrated because he could not do what he wanted and then decided to run for the White House has since coasted through two years of being bullied by a repuke minority

Newsflash, we all worked on the campaign.

It's not a "Stab Obama in the back free" pass.

10. If tax cuts for the rich passes, it's because congress caved
and he can't force them to extend unemployment. Thus, I wouldn't worry about this trip to Afghanistan on those grounds.

11. The question is not so much whether or not he is running for shelter
Edited on Fri Dec-03-10 02:00 PM by dave29
but whether or not he is personally torturing detainees while listening in on your private conversations and calculating just how much money he can squeeze out of your unemployed pocket and undermining any positive economic development by being all bipartisan-y -- while also personally making sure DADT does not get repealed despite signaling wanting otherwise ALL WHILE en route to Afghanistan to avoid all the pressures of the office.

That is the real question

Ya know that man kills troops every day and he doesn't even think about them. Obama can not win with this press or the DU crowd.

17. if he didn't go, then he doesn't care. If he does go, he's running away
for a happy little vacation from troubles here at home, looking for a "PR stunt". How is the CiC visiting his commanders and troops IN A WAR a "stunt"? It's what he MUST do. Some days it's not worth logging in here.
