WE need a Democratic fight song! Got the idea from Rachel M.
She talked about ine if her staff guys psychicing himself up for every show & every day when he gets up. AS soon as I hear that I said "WE Dems need a fight song!" I wish I was good enough to put one together and present it to you, but I'm not. The first thing that came to my mind was the "Steeler Fight Song"! Not good to infringe on a copywright, so I'm asking if out of all the thousands of DUers we have, does anyone have abilities like that?

For you who think I'm nuts, think about how ginned up football teams get when their fight song is played. We need something like that to ginup not only our voters but our legilators too!

What do you think?

1. "Streetfightin' Man"
A marching band could nail that one. Remember, all the guitars on the original recording (Let It Bleed) were acoustic.

Unfortunately, this bunch would probably settle on "Michael, Row the Boat Ashore".

8. I'm talking about a NEW ONE! We can't just grab a song we
think fits; that's copywrite infringement. I'm talking about writing a new one. I think most of us, either individually or collectively, could put together some lyrics. My big problem is the music that is not stolen from somebody else. As I said, the oe that always come to my mind is the Steeler Fight Song. I love it & every time it's played I get energized and it doesn't even matter how bad they lost one game or even 2 or 3. I've got my Terrible Towel, my Steeler Welcome Mat, and I even wear my Troy Polamalu game shirt with black pants & a gold turtle neck under the shirt every game they play. THAT'S the kind of energy I want to hear a Democratic Fight Song generate!

5. I like this one by Bruce Cockburn.
I highlighted the lines that seem most appropriate.

Lyrics:

I was half asleep in the washroom when they came in
Eyes like moonlight on barbed wire and veins showing under the skin
The uniforms made me nervous, I got ready for the chase
But they left me scanning these crowds for some sign of your face

Something fell on Saskatchewan in 1885
Where is it now that we need it, in this century of jive?
The axe falls as if through water -- never leaves a trace
And I'm scanning these crowds for some sign of your face

The world shot down love as a spy, once upon a time ago
Now people stand around here, like crows in the snow
Like the shadow of the rope on Louis Riel, they look so clean out of place
And I'm scanning these crowds for some sign of your face

Though storms may still kiss the grasslands with primal fire
In the land of passive revolution, everything's for hire
Are they demons, are they lemmings, or just the humans in this place?
Lord, I'm scanning these crowds for some sign of your face

6. Traditionally, the Democratic Fight Song has been
"Happy Days Are Here Again," since the days of FDR. Of course, Obama hasn't given us much to be happy about so it might not work.

12. All You Fascists Bound To Lose would be better!
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VwcKwGS7OSQ

Or maybe "This Machine Kills Fascists"
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HbulO_FB2ZI

I wish someone would do new versions of Woody Guthrie songs and introduce them to the new generations.

When Jib Jab used This Land for their parody, they had a copyright fight and won, so the copyright claims could be fought.

14. What, yours was in French.
French??? :wtf:

I thought the Brittany lyrics were hilarious. In this regard "Ooops, I did it again" Imagine Obama saying that after he caves for the 100th time. "I made you believe" "I played with your heart" you think I "was sent from above" but "I am not that innocent"

Mean Talking Blues - Woody Guthrie

ETA:

Mean Talking Blues
------Woody Guthrie

I'm the meanest man that ever had a brain,
All I scatter is aches and pains.
I'm carbolic acid, and a poison face,
And I stand flat-footed in favor of crime and disgrace.
If I ever done a good deed -- I'm sorry of it.

I'm mean in the East, mean in the West,
Mean to the people that I like the best.
I go around a-causin' lot of accidents,
And I push folks down, and I cause train wrecks.
I'm a big disaster -- just goin' somewhere's to happen.
I'm an organized famine -- studyin' now I can be a little bit meaner.
I'm still a whole lot too good to suit myself -- just mean...

I ride around on the subway trains,
Laughin' at the tight shoes dealin' you pain.
And I laugh when the car shakes from side to side,
I laugh my loudest when other people cry.
Can't help it -- I was born good, I guess,
Just like you or anybody else ---
But then I... just turned off mean..

I hate ev'rybody don't think like me,
And I'd rather see you dead than I'd ever see you free.
Rather see you starved to death
Than see you at work --
And I'm readin' all the books I can
To learn how to hurt --
Daily Misery -- spread diseases,
Keep you without no vote,
Keep you without no union.

Well, I hurt when I see you gettin' 'long so well,
I'd ten times rather see you in the fires of hell.
I can't stand to fixed... see you there all fixed up in that house so nice,
I'd rather keep you in that rotten hole, with the bugs and the lice,
And the roaches, and the termites,
And the sand fleas, and the tater bugs,
And the grub worms, and the stingarees,
And the tarantulas, and the spiders, childs of the earth,
The ticks and the blow-flies --
These is all of my little angels
That go 'round helpin' me do the best parts of my meanness.
And mosquiters...

Well, I used to be a pretty fair organized feller,
Till I turned a scab and then I turned off yeller,
Fought ev'ry union with teeth and toenail,
And I sprouted a six-inch stinger right in the middle of the tail,
And I growed horns...
And then I cut 'em off, I wanted to fool you.
I hated union ever'where,
'Cause God likes unions
And I hate God!

Well, if I can get the fat to hatin' the lean
That'd tickle me more than anything I've seen,
Then get the colors to fightin' one another,
And friend against friend, and brother... and sister against brother,
That'll be just it.
Everybody's brains a-boilin' in turpentine,
And their teeth fallin' out all up and down the streets,
That'll just suit me fine.
'Cause I hate ever'thing that's union,
And I hate ever'thing that's organized,
And I hate ever'thing that's planned,
And I love to hate and I hate to love!
I'm mean, I'm just mean...

You hsve to have common cause to be a "we" and if this forum is the standard, "we" are screwed.
