Is Erskine Bowles really a Democrat?
I thought I was going to vomit as I watched Alan Simpson heap praise on Erskine Bowles for helping draft a set of proposals that would have sent more elderly Americans into poverty. Bowles, for his part, grinned so wide that I could have sworn Simpson was rubbing his knee. What kind of a Democrat does he think he is?

8. He would fit in very well with the Senate Democratic caucus.
So, yes - he is a Democrat. But if you are asking if he is a progressive, that is another question entirely, and the answer is NO.

10. Mr. Bowles and his ilk
are why I have lost faith in the NC Democratic party. The party leadership almost to a person is very much corporatist.

Bowles very much is the face of Democratic leadership in NC. It is as if a reality where CEOs, and the wealthiness are not Tsarist overlords is outside their ability to perceive.

Where is labor represented on this commission?

11. Yes, he is.
It's just that a lot of folks like to project what they want the Democratic Party to be rather than accepting what it is. The 'party of FDR' was a historical contingency which has been shucked as no longer necessary and an impediment to business as usual.

14. Of course he is. He's the same kind of Democrat that President Obama is.

What would make you think otherwise?
