Tax Cuts .........Comes Down to Live or Die
There is a lot of talk on DU for these past months and it comes down to who gets them. Should everyone?? Should just the people below a $1 million or a more talked about number of $250,000?? What should Obama do or what will he do??

Let's look at the options:

Obama could instruct the dems in Congress to not do anything or block and let the bush tax cuts expire for everyone. This would infuse a lot more cash into the federal coffers. It would put a strain on the lower income tax payers, but at the same time it would also give the feral government more money to shore up the safety nets to help these people. The higher income people would not even notice the change so it would not have any affect on them at all.

If a bill did get out of Congress extending the bush tax cuts for all then he could veto it. The results would be the same as above.

If a bill did get out of Congress extending the bush tax cuts for all he could sign it. The bottom 97% would have as much money as they have today. The top 3% would still have as much money as they have today. There would not be any jobs created, no matter what the republicans say. There are not enough actual small businesses to create enough jobs to make a difference. The top 3% will not spend any more than they do now. This country still will not have enough money to do the things that need to be done. The states will still be cutting pay and jobs eroding even more of the bottom 97%. Putting more strain on any safety net out there. There will be a greater spread between the top and bottom.

A bill could come out of Congress with only the bottom 97% getting the tax extension. This would be good and I would tell the President to sign it. With this bill it would give the federal government more maneuvering room. They might even be able to send some money to the states to protect some jobs. The top 3% would not even notice the increase in taxes and they would still spend the same.

I know what I would do if I was President. Some here would say that I do not know what it takes to be President. That could be true, however I do know what it takes to stand up for what I believe in. I do have a moral compass. If it takes a person to worry more about keeping the job of President than to do what is right for this country, then I would not make a good President. I have always felt if a person did their job and did it as well as they could, whether you kept the job or not would take care of itself.

1. Your third option would guarantee we have a Republican president in 2012.
It is Obama's suicide note.

I hope he knows this.

Everyone losing tax cuts is defensible.

Keeping the top tax cuts is not.
