I missed something
Did we not lose everything today? We lost the both battles, tax breaks for the rich and extending unemployment benefits.

All week the talking heads were saying that Obama had already cut a deal: that tax cuts for the rich would be extended for 2 years in exchange for extending benefits for the unemployed another 2 months. They said this weekend was nothing more than kabuki theater as the deal was made a week or two in advance.

Are unemployment benefits still on the table, or is that gone for good?

3. The kabuki is their once again making up an end that didn't happen.
Same as always, jump the gun and make it as negative as possible.....and make damn sure it's portrayed as Obama's not voting right in the senate. In their world the President can vote in congress and it's his job to do so. Don't read the fine print, it's rubbish.

4. If a deal was cut, wouldn't it be the Dems in congress doing the cutting
since they are the ones who vote on tax cuts?

5. Here's the way this weekend was explained by Chris Mathews...
Howard Fineman, and that twit John Something. Okay, Chris is a twit and sometimes Howard, too.

The point of this weekend was merely to force the Republicans to vote against the middle class and unemployed so that the Dems can *prove* to America that the the Rs don't care about *you*, they work only for the top 2% and no one else.

6. right so the theater is over
now they go behind closed doors and give the republicans everything they want in exchange for unemployment extension, which no congress repub or dem , has ever voted down when the unemployment rate is high. So we get something that we were gonna get anyway, and they get everything they wanted.

8. I think when it's all said and done
UI benefits will be extended, and the rich will get their deficit ballooning tax cuts.
