3. More polarized in DC than ever before, even since civil war.

Prez O likely to be more resolved and determined than before, not as likely to try to induce repugs as has been doing.

Should have one vote only in Senate, with no possibility of giving tax benefit to wealthy.

Think Prez O will 'hang tough.'

Took JC 4 years to succeed in Alaska re: conservation. His Int. Sec. found the 'old' legislation to designate national monuments, and used it. Alaska Lands Bill. Sat around Cabinet Room with maps (and Mo Udall.)

Never met Palin. One of most dynamic and attractive speakers, clear cut political philosophy. Formidable candidate w/in repug party; wouldn't be surprised if she got nomination. Quitting not held against her by her supporters. Parallel w '76 = dissatisfaction with the way things were.

Former Iranian hostages meet him now. Friendly relations.

More, edit:

His faith informed his judgment, worship Jesus Christ as Prince of Peace. No bombs, no missiles, no bullets during his time. Groundwork for anti apartheid in S. Africa, Rhodesia. Begin relations w. China. Israel + peace work.

Studied Spanish, still works on the language. Bi-lingual an advantage.

Does own writing himself. Studied shorthand and typing in high school.Hand wrote letters to Begin and Sadat to come to WH.

Carter Center monitors human rights abuses; writes personally, after Emory U law students check. Commitment to eradicating 'neglected diseases.'

Inspired by Harry Truman. Cried when FDR killed, and HST would be Prez. Was at Annapolis at the time. Doing away with segregation in armed services affected him directly.

Feels personally involved with Korea; was involved in the conflict. North Koreans trust him. 16 years ago, were facing war, Kim decided to reprocess stuff, U.S. decided to sanction, Kim announced he'd attack. JC went and negotiated with Kim, processing ended. Bush undid the good stuff, w. Axis of Evil speech, and Kim began to reprocess. JC would go again, with permission from WH.

Respected in China. Carter Center has projects. Monitors elections in villages.

Concerned about global warming. Several coastal communities inundated. Bolivia first major country to be affected.

White House Diaries new book.
