One thing Julian Assange is not is a greed head
Edited on Sun Dec-05-10 12:56 PM by NNN0LHI
Think about it. He could have named his price for those leaked documents. Just about every country in the world would have kicked in some pallets of hundred dollar bills to keep that stuff quiet.

He could be just about anywhere right now with suitcases full of cash if that is what he had wanted.

Wonder why he didn't just take the money and forget the headaches of being a wanted man?

What would you have done in that situation? I am not so sure what I would have done. I don't think I would ever want to be in a position like that.

One thing is for sure. This story is going to be made into a blockbuster movie real soon. Who do you think will play him?

1. Wouldn't that have been considered blackmail or extortion?

3. In some circles it is called that

In other circles its called a business deal.

Kind of like when we say we don't negotiate with terrorists ... except when we do.

4. Is that in some way more odious
than whatever they actually end up doing to him? (Or not--who knows how afraid TPTB are of his timebomb!)

7. Extortion. Mind your words. Silvio, Putin, Arab princes etc would never
use such disagreeable language.

2. Interesting points.
And I can't really imagine getting myself into that situation. I'm basically too chickenshit to deliberately piss off most of the governments in the First World all at once.

6. That named Afgani pol who walked away with 52 million would have
been amenable to some sort of deal. Silvio and his thugs would have happily come to some mutual agreement. The list goes on.
