Susan "Soup Nazi" Collins (R-ME): No DADT repeal for you until you approve the Bush Tax Cuts©

Collins says 'Don't ask, don't tell' repeal must wait for tax cuts
By Michael O'Brien - 12/03/10 04:02 PM ET

Democrats hoping to move forward with legislation other than tax cuts shouldn't look to centrist Sen. Susan Collins (R-Maine) to break the logjam.

Collins said again on Friday that, while she would vote with Democrats to end the military's "Don't ask, don't tell" policy, she wouldn't do so until a debate over tax cuts has been resolved.

"Once the tax issue is resolved, I have made it clear that if the Majority Leader brings the Defense Authorization bill to the floor with sufficient time allowed for debate and amendments, I would vote to proceed to the bill," she said in a statement.

The statement is a sign that Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell's (Ky.) Republican conference hasn't fractured in its insistence that the expiring tax cuts be dealt with prior to action on any other legislative business.

3. But of course. Tie everything together, and then come up with some other reason
why you can't do it when you get what you asked for. I have no doubt this woman will pull some other bullshit out of her ass after the tax cuts go through. Turtle Man will see to it.

4. Ha..I knew there was a catch
I knew even if she believed it should be repealed she had to get something out of it.

Why do we count on her and others like her to do the right thing?

7. She's running for President in 2016.
After the tea-party crazy burns itself out, she sweeps in to pick up the pieces.

A Northerner, after Southerners destroyed the party.
A woman. Pro-choice, but discreetly so.
Not a God-botherer. Not obviously crazy.
Can plausibly be sold as a fiscal-conservative-social liberal. (For the ANWR drilling ban. For Family Leave Act. Against impeachment in '98)
Doesn't look, sound, or act like a pol -- she's the anti-Hailey Barbour.

She's being very careful to not burn bridges for the time being, but especially after a Palin or Huckabee run, she'd be well positioned. Her only civilian jobs ever were in other people's campaigns and on other people's staffs. This is the only world she knows.

Laugh if you want, but bookmark this post.

...politicians give speeches. She can't give a speech. Therefore she's not really a politician. And Americans hate politicians.

Works up here in Maine, where we loooooove independents and non-politicians. Had two independent governors in the last thirty years, and missed another one by a few thousand votes. Perot finished second here to Clinton, and didn't sound like a politician either.

Hasn't exactly hurt Palin, now has it?

15. Well, I wasn't really addressing her public speaking abilities--
I mean her voice makes you want to claw your eyes out. Worse than Palin. I'm talking Fran Drescher bad.

16. Fran Drescher's career...
...should not exist, but it does exist, only proving that 'Fran Drescher bad' is a kind of good.

What more facts need to be presented to prove that the Bush Tax Cuts do more harm than good? What a stupid cunt.

13. The Dems that vote for her...
...are often of the 'all politicians are crooks' type, which is a popular, bi-partisan belief. See my #11 above for how this plays out in her case.

17. Look for all business to be added to the list.
Nothing happens without tax cuts for the rich and once a Democrat signs them into law they will claim forever forward that even the Marxist, Kenyan, Socialist, Commie, Anti-American Obama believed in tax cuts.

Complete refusal to internalize who we are dealing with is not helping our causes. They want this to get more. Does anyone think that as the economy sinks they won't just prescribe and demand more tax cuts?
Do you all still believe all this bullshit isn't interrelated? The policies of the last 30-40 years have an impact.

It is like most Americans have no concept that what we do affects and constructs the future.
