Poll question: Would you be more or less likely to send secret documents to Wikileaks if president froze your pay?
It's a pretty straight forward question.

In order to appease the budget hawks and more precisely, their masters on Wall Street, Obama just took a giant symbolic dump on federal bureaucrats by freezing their pay, which could make it far more likely that they will release embarrassing and hopefully crucial documents about who our foreign and domestic policy is really designed to help.

I'm crossing my fingers for the Cheney Energy Task Force and anything related to 9/11.

If you were a federal worker sitting on information that showed how our government screwed the middle class to enrich the already wealthy, including putting our troops in harms way and taking the lives of innocent people in other countries, would you be more or less likely to leak that information after having your pay frozen, essentially scapegoating you for our budget excesses?

2. Wow you think people would risk years in jail over a pay freeze?
Nope...you need a martyr type complex to do this. Someone needs to feel so strongly about what they are doing that the other stuff doesn't matter.

3. Whistleblowers are made, not born
and a grievance like this one, and the means to put it into effect (via Wikileaks) guarantees an increase in dirty laundry airing.

4. I'd hope I'd have the morals to be equally likely
Wikileaks isn't there for federal employees with personal grievances to hurt the US government. It's there for the exposure of information that ought to be generally known. If you only do that because you're pissed off about your pay rate, then you're a petty, greedy worm.

5. Other....
..I'm not stupid. I wouldn't send any secret documents to anybody. To risk jail time would endanger my family's future....that always comes first. I'm no martyr, and I'm not going down for anybody for any reason.

6. Divulging classified information because yr pay has been frozen?
Is there such a thing as a Union in the US? Because if my pay were frozen, the Union would be taking action to protect our rights. I'm sure it's the same for govt workers in the US as it is here in Australia, but it's a crime to divulge classified information from our work. And to do it out of spite at a pay freeze? That's just pathetic, imo...
