well,F^ck a D^ck...letter in my paper on "responsibility"
recall the Waxahachie School District having a hard time with their budget. A few things have been on my mind for a while and I would like to hear others’ opinion. I think there are some things that should be put on the ballots and let the public vote on them. With the economy like it is, everyone is aware that each must do their part. Here are some ideas they might think about for the next budget workshop.

1. Stop offering free breakfast and lunches to 67 percent of the students every day. Only offer lunches to ones that their parents have lost their jobs through no fault of their own.

2. Stop offering free daycare to mothers still in school. The children are their responsibility. They should be made to pay a small amount for this service.

3. Stop giving free shots to all students. We have Hope Clinic and the parents have all summer to get these shots.

If I sound like a heartless person, just let me remind you that the government (our tax money) sends a check to each unwed mother, gives her food stamps, helps her with low income housing, unless she is living with her parents or the father of her children.

We MUST start teaching these young people to assume responsibility for themselves and not depend on others to support them.

1. Oh, one of those holier-than-thou "I get to decide who deserves help" assholes.
Christ on a crutch, I hate those people most of all. What a self-righteous, smug, ignorant little prick.

3. If that asswipe had any clue
Free and reduced lunches and breakfasts don't just go to students of parents who are unemployed. Many of them work, but at a substandard wage. For some of my kids, this is the only time they are able to get a good, hot meal.

Fuck these people. Seriously, fuck them all. No heart, no compassion. I'm surrounded by them, and I'm sick of them.

5. People like that really anger me
They would probably be one of the first with a hand outstretched for a handout if they needed it. Usually b/c it's "different" when it's them. I always find it amazing how Americans love to slam other Americans and kids on this so-called responsibility schtick.

7. "If I sound like a heartless person"
It's because he is. One of those books that can easily be judged by its cover. And I'd bet a shiny nickel he's sitting in a church pew several times a year, convincing himself he's a good person while despising about 80% of the people around him for not living up to his expectations. His Bible probably gets opened about three times a year to re-read about 20 verses he knows by heart, and none of them are from the likes of Micah or Amos.

13. I would NEVER deny a child food
Whether it's once a day or 3 times a day, no matter what the cost.

I don't get some people. When we were in school back in the day, we got either oranges or orange juice every morning. EVERYONE got it.

If not for after school childcare, my sister would not have been able to support herself or her daughter.

Shots should free to everyone. I remember getting some at school. If I'm correct, they are still free and should be. Is he griping because they're free or because the government gave them at school where EVERYONE got them to prevent an outbreak. I don't get this.

In a perfect world, everyone marries before they have children. Well this world isn't perfect.

That little bit of money doesn't do shit in the big scheme of things. To complain about it shows how heartless he really is. Yeah, HE IS.

14. So, I guess it's the kids fault that the weren't born
to the "right" parents. These types want to ban abortions, but then not provide any support for the children that are born.

Also, when kids don't have key support like adequate nutrition or quality daycare, what type of adults will we be producing? Another step toward becoming a third world country when every other industrialized country is providing the support for their society's kids to grow up and be healthy, educated and successful adults.

And, who is being attacked here: the MOMS. I don't see much mention of the dad's and their responsibility. If they didn't offer child care to the moms, many would be forced to drop out and just ensure they are stuck in poverty.

Here's an interesting study that confirms we are spending more money on prisons than schools. It is extremely short sighted.

Study confirms more money spent on prisons than schools
While poverty doesn't cause crime, more low-income people end up in prison or jail. And while spending on education, treatment, and other services that help people improve their well-being have been shown to be a more effective public safety strategy than locking people up, between 2005 and 2009 state spending on corrections grew faster than any other category, including education, Medicaid and public assistance such as TANF.

19. There oughta be a law...
...that any statement beginning with the proposition that "each must do their <sic> part" CAN NOT EVER be followed by words expressing what the speaker is willing for OTHER people to sacrifice.

Instead, it should be mandatory that the next words be, "Here is what I am willing to sacrifice." Saying what you are willing to take away from other people is an automatic disqualifier.

This writer reminds me of the chickenhawks who are so eager to volunteer OTHER mothers' sons and daughters to fight, and to be maimed, and to die in war because the cause is SO important--just not important enough for THEM to put their own lives on the line (they always seem to have "better things to do").

Volunteering children to give up eating is an especially disgusting touch. :puke:

20. Letters like this appear almost daily
in our local newspaper. If they aren't targeting children of the poor, they're going after Hispanic kids (because they're all illegals , doncha know). The comments posted daily to the online edition are even worse, and very prolific.

And, yes, many of those writers/posters refer to themselves as people of faith; more than one of them has come close to smacking me when I've asked if they view the phrase "Suffer the little children" to be a commandment. Makes me thankful for all those of genuine faith who do more than their share in caring for others.

21. "If I sound like a heartless person..."
it's because the writer IS a heartless person. There's always money for bombs and bullets, but none for books and bread. Scumbags like the letter writer are the reason the repubs keep getting elected and we'll never have a decent social safety net. I hope the writer has nice bootstraps and will never need government assistance.

Taxes are the price we pay for a civilized society; even the Romans knew that.
