I'd be extremely depressed if DADT isn't repealed this year.

There's still time, and I believe in Gates and Obama's desire to have it repealed. Obama flat out promised it this year. If DADT is still here on 1/1/11, it would be bad.

1. It's not going to be. As soon as the thugs get what they want they'll block everything.

The only way it's gets repealed is if it's on the "Tax cut for the rich" bill.

And Obama is too weak to demand that.

2. I hope I'm wrong, but I really don't think it will be repealed.
And if it isn't repealed now, it won't be repealed. The Rs simply have no reason to annoy their fundy base by signing onto any gay rights measure even if national security requires it.

3. A post here (link) claims that it is dead in 2010. There will not be enough votes in 2011, so
it looks like it will be a long time before it can be repealed.

5. I saw that.
And I did a news search. Gates gave a not very political answer to a political question. I took it as he thinks it's unlikely more than anything definitive, but it needs to be repealed.
