Question: Why can't they make the tax hike on the top 2% temporary
so that they could use reconciliation and thus have a simple majority...

Say, just until 2014. Meanwhile, they can make the tax cuts for everyone else temporary as well.

Put it in two separate bills.

Make the extension of unemployment temporary so that they can use reconciliation.

Perhaps the Dem's in the senate don't want to do that because it would upset their wealthy patrons.

Who knows.

If Bush and his cadre of cronies could figure it out, why can't our brilliant, Ivy League Liberals come up with a reconciliation fix for the tax cuts and unemployment extension

1. If it's temporary for the top 2% at all, it should be a three month
extension..no more than that.

6. That would work! Extend the UI (without offsetting it) for however long we extend the...
tax cut on the top. Put in a sudden death switch, too. As soon as the UI benefit extensions stop, so do the tax cuts.

3. Trust me, the rich bastards who sent our manufacturing jobs overseas
do not need an extension! They need to be put in jail! The rich has been riding on the back of a tiger now for 30 years, and that tiger is getting very hungry!!!

7. You might have missed that I said temporarily raise the tax on the
top 2% that way they could do it under reconciliation, I suppose...

Anyway, it's a mute point now...
