The size of the compromise package, roughly half of which came from extending all the Bush tax rates for two years, roughly paralleled Mr. Obama’s initial $800 billion package of stimulus spending and tax cuts in early 2009 —

only this time with Republicans’ tentative agreement.

3. You see, all those jobs that extending tax cuts will finally create
(business have just been waiting all these years to see if they'd be extended) will result in so many more of the "little people" being able to pay taxes again that the deficit will be wiped out in no time.

:sarcasm: (did I really need to add that?)

4. They are against the defecit for 2 reaons - they love to blame the Democrats for it, and
second because they use it as an excuse to cut government programs they don't like, which is most of them that benefit you and me.

Other than that, they don't care about very much - they are NOT idealists at all..

6. Reagan showed them that deficits don't matter.
They put that card back in the deck for now. They'll pull it out next time Obama or the Democrats try to pass legislation designed to help someone other than the uber wealthy.
