How did I know we'd do the most fiscally irresponsible thing?
Given the choice of extending unemployment benefits or the tax cuts, of course we do both. In the 80's, given the choice of social programs or military spending, we do both. WTF is wrong with this country! We can't go on making the most irresponsible choice possible at every turn. Isn't anyone going to make a choice!?

I think we should scrap all of the tax cuts, eventhough I personally would be paying about $500 more a year. I also think people on unemployment benefits long-term should have to help scoop snow this winter so we don't have to blow out the city's budget again paying for a ton of overtime.

1. I would vote for that.
We are sooooo running on borrowed time.

What will we say when the IMF instantly raises our tax rates and our retirement ages? Ye gads I hope people prepare properly.

2. One minute the deficit ain't important.......
to Democrats here at DU....

Next minute, it's the most important thing to discuss!

Make up y'all's mind! Shit.

I need to know what to be outraged about,
and y'all keep moving the goal post.

I was told to be enraged about the deep oil drilling a few months ago,
and then presto.....

White House to announce no offshore oil drilling for seven years
http://www.miamiherald.com/2010/12/01/1951806/white-house-to-announce-no-offshore.html#ixzz16tNXZjjZ

Now, I'm mad some more, although I heard that the Deficit wasn't supposed to matter right now....
but I guess it does!

3. I've been consistently pissed off about the deficit
and consistently luke-warm on extending unemployment benefits forever.

only listen to me :)
