Ask yourself this if your planning on not voting in 2012.

84. I'm pretty sure he's not going to lose against their set of candidates.
Not a single ONE of them is good enough to get more than a 50% vote. They all make Bewsh II look like a moderate. I just don't see Palin, Romney or Gingrich winning independents, moderates or fence-sitters.

Plus, if hiring doesn't pick up even after the compromise on tax cuts for the rich, the Republican business elites will officially have drained their last remaining excuse for their "uncertainty" and the Republican ham-n-eggers will never be able to pin the "tax-n-spend" label on Obama. America is only going to buy the shiny objects and bullshit for so long. We cannot allow them to only hold OUR side to results.

I am sick of having my vote taken for granted, just to keep the other "gasp" side from office. Let those chips fall, the sooner the better. Then maybe we will have something in which to build upon.

The line has been crossed tonight. There is no going back. I am going to unplug from the illusion of a two party system. Why play the game. I voted for Hope, I got Hype.

We've lowered the bar so far that a ditch had to be dug, and still he grovels...

You represent the 12% of this nation that either still doesn't get it, or who's paycheck depends on not getting it.

But fear not, it's almost two years before the next election and we have the attention span of a gnat with ADD so there is always "hope".

38. I suggest hiring some real marketing people.
You can't ride "better than Palin" forever. Obama is already delivering John McShame's stated agenda, surging around and taxing health care benefits and all.
In any event, you're wishing too much. History should tell us that the Republicans are not only capable of nominating the worst possible candidate and still winning or at least getting close enough to pull shenanigans.

Plus, you are setting the bar very low. You run the real risk of them nominating someone with reasonable negatives on the national stage that won't talk straight fucking absurd like King, Angle, and Palin and you effectively say that is OK or at least survivable.

In fact, the people that are that scared of her should be kicking the ass of every Democrat you can find to shape up before they turn Phailin into the default candidate.

47. It's possible for a candidate to win an election mostly due
to their not being as bad as their opponent, but it's not any sort of strategy I'd recommend.

Look, a lot of people are (justifiably, IMHO) venting right now, but, in the end, come 2012 and if Obama is the Democratic candidate, the *vast* majority of DUers will be casting their votes for him. DUers are not the folks we need to be worrying about sitting out the next election.

Activists and the liberal base of the party will be there to vote for Obama two years from now, even if it's one of the most passionless votes they've ever cast. But if Obama doesn't start both showing more backbone towards advancing legislation that will improve the economy and the lives of real Americans and doing a better job selling the real accomplishments he has had in office so far, soft Democrats and liberal-to-moderate independents aren't going to care about turning out for him; they may not be voting Palin or whatever nutjob the 'pugs put up, but (as 2010 proved) the nutjobs will win if non-crazy (but not strongly political) people don't feel they've be given a strong enough reason to turn out.

53. That's an easy call - Palin.
At least she wouldn't be able to get the Democrats in Senate and the House to go along with this so-called "tax deal" and it would never
get through if she were President.

58. Is there really a difference? Palin will be controlled just like Obama is being controlled.
For once, why don't we get a really good candidate -- like Elliot Spitzer or Howard Dean or Elizabeth Warren just to name a few.

63. First, there's a primary on both sides.
She has to win hers (and she won't).

He has to run again (and he may not), and he has to win his primaries (and he may not).

The odds of them facing off in 2012 are small.

But that doesn't mean I have to like it and I may vote differently in the primary.

the working class (and that includes asshole professionals who think you are so high and mighty) is being screwed over and as we see that will happen under Obama as easily as anybody else.

No way am I voting - it changes NOTHING.

93. Tell me something...

How much worse would it be today if McCain had won? Would we have health care written by the corporations? Would imperial aggression be full on? Would BP have been held to account? And what about that DADT thing? Would McCain have put Social Security on the chopping block?

Yep, those Republicans are so scary, the horror. Viva la difference.

105. The difference would be...
...that there would be more resistance.

And, there would be no pretense that a program for screwing the populace would suddenly be emblazoned with the shining slogan:

"REALLY REALLY HELPING REAL PEOPLE (but not you), one teensy, tiny, itty bitty, increment at a time (except when we are going backwards, which is really almost all of the time)"
