I feel this is a pretty good analogy, not perfect but pretty good:
Spoiler Alert!
In the iconic film "The Bridge on the River Kwai", Alec Guinness is a brave and effective leader, Col. Nicholson. From the best of intentions he encouraqes his men (English prisoners in a Japanese prison camp during WWII)to work with the Japanese to build a bridge over the River Kwai. Col. Nicholson does this to keep morale high and keep the men alive, more or less. This is, in effect, collaboration.
Things go fairly well and eventually the bridge is completed. Meanwhile, some commandos (with William Holden) have attached explosives to the bridge to destroy it when the first train is crossing. Col. Nicholson is unaware of this and in the film's conclusion (Spoiler Alert!) Nicholson discovers the explosives and tries to save the bridge. Some of the commandos are killed. Nicholson finds the detonator and at the last second looks around and realizes what he is doing, "What have I done?" or words to that effect. Nicholson is shot and as he dies he falls on the plunger and destroys the bridge.
Well, imo, Mr. Obama is Col. Nicholson. This is giving him the benefit of the doubt in that he is doing what he is doing for a good reason, at least in his mind. What he is actually doing is colluding with a very real enemy to the U.S.A.....the Republicans. My question: Will President Obama realize what he has doing and "fall on the plunger"? What do you think?
