After watching coverage of this tax compromise all day and reading DU,
I've come to the conclusion that it is a good thing. Congress has had years and months to take up these issues and has done squat. If it takes this to slap them upside the head, then good. Personally, I'm pissed at Reid and the Dems in the Senate. I'm also heartened that some of these congresspeople and senators are finally finding a voice after cowering for the past two years. Perhaps they'll surprise us with some heavy lifting for a change.

1. I think Obama showed the Dems how to frame the Republicans.

4. The only reason that this 'compromise' exists
is because the President doesn't want to be in the position of vetoing what the Repukes would hand him to sign in January. It would take courage to oppose them then, and to oppose them now.

I think we saw during the HCR debate, his attitude is, "just give me something I can put a pen to."
