Great news on Obama/ Republican tax-breaks for the rich plan
House Democrats Rip Obama's Tax Cut Deal

WASHINGTON -- House Democrats gathered in the Capitol Tuesday evening to debate the tax-cut deal President Barack Obama struck with Republicans, but as it turned out, they were already in agreement to an extent rarely seen on the left side of the lower chamber.

Across the board, Democrats who attended the meeting said, Obama's deal was deemed too costly, too tilted toward the rich and too much of a cave to Republicans.

"The wealthiest few in the country come out like gangbusters," said Rep. Earl Pomeroy (D-N.D.), a Blue Dog who said he would oppose the deal. Many other Blue Dogs, Pomeroy said, would also vote down the package, on the grounds that it adds heavily to the debt. "My sense is that it would not carry most of the blue dog members, but that's just my sense. I haven't seen a poll. I was in a discussion with the Blue Dogs this afternoon about it."

Even if every House Republican signs on, Obama needs 39 Democrats to vote to extend the tax cuts for the wealthy. "I don't think the president should count on Democratic votes to get this passed," Rep. Anthony Weiner (D-N.Y.) said.

1. If the current House doesn't want to pass the deal, they can let the new Republican House pass a
stripped down version in January (without unemployment benefits). It's their call.

2. They can cut off the unemployment in the new House whether they pass the deal or not
What guarantees do we have? Are Republican politicians known for their character?

4. I Don't Think You Can Reverse A Law Or Bill Without A Veto Proof Majority
They don't have sixty seven senators.

I'm waiting to hear from the thirty nine members of the Black Caucus where unemployment is near twenty percent among their constituents. I can't believe anybody is cheering an unholy reliance between the Blue Dogs, The Club For Growth, and the Tea Baggers.

3. and then the repukes can try to getting the votes of the unemployed and their families

and the small business owners who have to shut down due to no demand since there is no money out there being spent.

There is NO WAY that the repukes will not extend unemployment after Jan 1 ...period. end of story.
This "compromise" should die a quick death.
Let ALL tax cuts expire and then let the repukes fight for the tax cuts for the rich.

Make them show their true colors...

5. The Last Time Unemployment Was Extended It Was Done With A Couple Or No Repug Votes
You can look it up.

Also, a total collapse of the economy under President Obama is a Republican wet dream. For them, the worse is truly the better...

6. They not only would let them expire -- they did so this summer for WEEKS.
They kept blocking them until we finally swore in Byrd's replacement and got 60 (with Snowe/Collins-Nelson).

7. Why Don't People Here Realize It Is In The Republicans Interest To WRECK The Economy?
It's frustrating they don't get it.

Another thing they don't get is if you do even a cursory review of the unemployment figures you will discover our (Democratic) constituents are the ones who are feeling the brunt of unemployment.

10. That's it exactly
They could care less about Governing. They would love this country to just tank - and then blame it on President Obama.

11. +1000. They will do ANYTHING to guarantee Obama is a one term President. They came right out and
said that. If the country has to go down the toilet to do it, so be it. You can be sure that the asses of the rich and powerful will be fully covered..Only the middle class and the less fortunate will suffer. Remember the repuke health care plan "DIE YOUNG!"

doesn't see it that way.

13. BUT
They would have to pass a new tax cut deal, the old one expires before they get into session...and they would have to get past a veto on it..(assuming obama would in fact veto it)

8. Is there a bill yet in the House?
It would be easier to follow this legislation if we knew the bill number.
