First Baptist Church in Dallas escalates the War on Christmas.
Awesome! Rev. Robert Jeffress (last in the news for claiming that Islam promotes pedophilia) has helpfully started up a Naughty or Nice list where people can report on local businesses. Hubby and I are planning on going to a restaurant on the Naughty list this weekend. And I can use the Nice list to plan which stores to avoid.

Story from WFAA:

First Baptist Church of Dallas says the real Grinch is any business that says "Happy Holidays" instead of "Merry Christmas."

FBC has launched a Web site — GrinchAlert.com — to identify those who are taking Christ out of Christmas. "People are tired of political correctness that some way wants to remove the acknowledgment of Christmas," explained Robert Jeffress, senior pastor at the downtown Dallas megachurch.

Jeffress believes there is a war on Christmas. But at Mi Cocina, a Mexican restaurant chain that was the first business to make the Grinch's "naughty" list, owners say if there is such a war, they're on Jesus' side. "We believe this season is an opportunity to serve and to minister to everyone, because Christ is a gift that God sent us for everyone," said Mi Cocina's Heather Washburne.

So while the restaurant asks its employees to say "Happy Holidays" to customers — trying to be inclusive of all faiths — they also served 600 holiday meals to families who lost a loved one in the wars, and are a major supporter of Rev. S.M. Wright's big charity, Christmas in the Park.

Also an interesting comment from a small town city manager that puts up a Happy Holidays sign--it's because the sign goes up before Thanksgiving and stays up until after New Year's. Duh, fundies.

2. I alerted them to the fact that
they are assholes:

Why don't you people get a grip and GO DO SOMETHING GOOD, as Christ commanded, instead of being holier-than-thou assholes.

4. I hate America sometimes...
Yes, the choice to say pornographic, country-ruining phrases like, "Happy Holidays," run the gamut from purely doing it out of monetary concerns (like the big chain stores) to the restaurant mentioned in the story who want to be inclusive, but it's still a nice - and one would hope, heartfelt - greeting. I can remember reading an old Holiday/Christmas Dennis the Menace comic digest when I was a kid, and there was a street scene of people carrying trees and presents and greeting each other not just with the aforementioned smut of Happy Holidays but also, "Seasons Greetings." I wonder how we've survived as a country for so long. It's too bad Hank Ketchum (creator of Dennis) has passed on as Bill O'Reilly would surely give Hank what he should have had coming to him.

7. Just looked at their site
The Nice List (stores that say Merry Christmas) is 3 pages compared to the Naughty List which is 1. What war on Christmas?

8. If your god is so weak that he can not stand up for themself
then why would anyone want to believe in them??

And if your faith is that weak then maybe you better sit down
and actually read the book that you shove in everyones' face
