Maid finds body parts scattered around L.A. hotel room
A Pennsylvania couple is wanted in the slaying and dismemberment of a Hollywood man whose body was "cut up into five different parts -- basically his limbs were removed," said a Los Angeles detective.

The body was found in a hotel near downtown Los Angeles' skid row. Los Angeles Police Department detectives are seeking Edward Garcia Jr., 36, and his wife, Melissa Hope Garcia, 25 (also known as Melissa Turner). They are believed either to be in Hollywood or en route to Pennsylvania, said LAPD Det. Kelle Baitx.

A housekeeper at the Continental Hotel discovered body parts in a backpack left behind in the room on Nov. 29. The victim has been identified as 49-year-old Herbert Tracy White.

Additional body parts were found wrapped in blankets underneath the bed, police said, and a knife was recovered in the small hotel room. Baitx said police detectives believed it was a robbery gone wrong.

Continental Hotel representatives declined to comment.

25. Because humor is a natural way to ease the discomfor that accompanies such gruesome stories.
But acting holier-than-thou at a stranger on the internet has the same effect, I suppose.

2. I hope they left her a big tip...
(sorry, 'couldn't resist)

In reality, I hope the hotel gets her some psych support, some time off, and some considerable "hazard pay."

3. How horrible.
For the man it happened to, and for the maid who found him...

I cannot even imagine.

I hope they catch the people responsible.

10. My ex and I used to manage a couple of weekly motels
My ex was just checking up on a tenant and found him to have slashed his wrists and died. The person who died tried to make it as dramatic as possible by stringing blood all over the walls and everywhere,my ex said he died with his eyes open.

Weird thing is, it didn't affect my ex in the least, weird.

8. Um, poor quartered GUY!
She just had to see the aftermath - the guy had to be drawn and quartered. I'll take the maid's experience ANY DAY

12. Hmmm didn't know that def - thanks
Of course I still laugh at the image I had in my head as a chlild when I first heard the expression "drawn and quartered"

I literally pictured someone drawing a picture of the guy, and then putting quarters on it

27. drawing and quartering
is a pretty gruesome punishment. It was torture that makes water boarding look like a Sunday walk in the park. They basically killed you by "drawing out" your entrails saving the heart for last. The viciousness and cruelty of humankind never ceases to amaze and horrify me!

14. Detectives say a robbery gone wrong
But there are lots of robberies every day, very few of them end with a dismembered corpse. This looks a little more up close and personal than a simple "Gimme yer wallet or else." Eugh!

15. The comments to this thread just blow my mind.
Let's pretend for a while that two guys hacked a homeless woman to bits and left her body in a backpack and see if the jokes are still funny.

Jesus god. This place is more fucked up every time I come here.

16. If you think this is bad...
then you probably don't want to hear what gets said in hospital ERs or in the locker rooms of police stations, etc.

Black humor is sometimes the only way some people can deal with things that are too disturbing to think of otherwise.

23. It's Biblical!
From Judges 19:29
When he entered his house he took a knife, laid hold of his concubine, and divided her into twelve pieces, limb by limb, and sent her throughout all the territory of Israel.

They just didn't get it out to FedEx, that's all. God will be pissed.
