Just called the White House comment line-202-456-1111
Edited on Wed Dec-08-10 02:33 PM by flamin lib
First call the line was busy. Second call was on hold for 2-3 minutes as "all of our volunteer operators are busy".

me: First, thank you for volunteering to work the comment line.

operator: Thank you for being so kind.

me: I'm a liberal and millions of people like me got this fellow elected. As a liberal I'm getting tired of being dissed by the White House. If President Obama is curious about why Dems took a shellacking he might consider the "professional left" remarks and his latest speech about the tax cave in. I don't expect him to win every battle but I'd like to see him wage one from time to time. Are you getting many of these calls?

operator: Well, yes, it's been busy lately.

me: Thanks again for volunteering, I suspect you take a lot of grief from people who, like me, are angry.

operator: That's okay, it's whyu we're here.

7. Yes, it is a vast improvement over the past, BUT
it would be nice if he didn't start with a compromise. Health care? He started with the public option instead of single payer and negotiating down to a public option. Taxes? Two days before meeting with the Republicans on tax policy he announced a pay freeze for federal employees, a Republican idea, instead of using it for a bargining chip.

Negotiating is the art of asking for more than the other side will give and meeting in the middle, not starting where you hope to finish! The Republicans are playing him like a piano and he blame US!

I'd love to play poker with him; I'd own his house . . . Oh! That's right, I already do!

14. Just call them anyway
A lot of people around here complain that the GOPers never face consequences. One reason why is that we give up on the basic tenets of exerting pressure. Just call them. If they'll igmore it anyway, what's the loss. Call them now.

12. Having volunteered in a congressman's office I know that when calls
come in you seldom take down the content - just mark the Yeah/Nay box on your paper. That is one reason I like to write. Most letters are kept for a while. I suspect all Obama is hearing is that we are angry.
